While editing feature code, the code can temporarily have a syntax error. Currently Fontra seems to throw away the last compiled font, and that will break the shaping output, which is a bit jarring and makes live editing UX a bit bad.

I think Fontra should keep the last working font until the font is buildable. Maybe indicate in the UI that the compiled font is stalled.
