Stopping iOS simulator app with `q` during `run` does not stop the app

Choosing `q` on an iOS simulator exits the `flutter` command but does not exit the app running on the simulator

Flutter run key commands.
r Hot reload. 🔥🔥🔥
...
q Quit (terminate the application on the device).
```

I thought there was an open issue for this but I can't find it now, only an ancient closed one https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/2888
