Description

The desktop icons for installed PWAs are of poor quality on Windows 10 compared to the icons of native applications such as Spotify or PWAs installed from Chromium based browsers.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Install the browser extension Progressive Web Apps for Firefox
  2. Install any site as a PWA
  3. Observe the low quality icon on the Windows taskbar, desktop, file explorer

Additional Information

I noticed the icons for PWAs installed with Progressive Web Apps for Firefox are of poor quality on the taskbar, desktop and file explorer, but they look normal on Windows 10 start menu.

I did some comparison between the ico files that FirefoxPWA and Brave install for Google Earth PWA as an example:
The ico file that FirefoxPWA installs is 256 x 256 pixels and 17 kB in size and the ico file that Brave installs is 128 x 128 pixels and 162 kB in size. The one Brave installs shows correctly everywhere, not pixelated like the one FirefoxPWA installs.

Comparison between Google Earth icons on taskbar, left is FirefoxPWA and right is Brave PWA:
