Prerequisites

  • I have searched for similar issues in both open and closed tickets and cannot find a duplicate.
  • The issue still exists against the latest stable version of Elementor.

Description

When using the Text Widget in Elementor 2.2 with longer passages of text, scrolling further down in the right editing pane (preview window) and then clicking inside the text widget in the preview pane automatically scrolls the preview pane back to the top to the Text Widget window where the text starts. This prevents text editing in the preview pane.

I have tested with all other plugins disabled (including Elementor Pro) and using the default Twenty Seventeen theme. The issue only happens with Elementor 2.2 active and only on longer passages of text that require scrolling to get to. Short passages of text don't appear to cause the issue.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Select (click on) a text widget in the Elementor preview pane on the right that contains text that is long enough to run down past the browser viewport at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Scroll further down and click on text anywhere in the preview pane.
  3. Notice how the preview pane automatically scrolls back to the top which prevents editing in the preview pane.

Isolating the problem

  • This bug happens with only Elementor plugin active (and Elementor Pro).
  • This bug happens with a default WordPress theme active.
  • I can reproduce this bug consistently using the steps above.
