Slides Element - Active slide lost focus when clicking Editor tabs #4596

Prerequisites

  • I have searched for similar issues in both open and closed tickets and cannot find a duplicate.
  • The issue still exists against the latest stable version of Elementor.

Description

When editing a slide using the slide widget and changing from the editor's Content tab to Styles or Advanced, the slider advances to the next slide (or empty if only 1 slide) without retaining the current active slide.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Create a slider
  2. Begin editing the first slide then click on Styles tab or Advanced or even the Square Grid icon that lists all of the Elementor Elements and the slide advances and you are no longer visibly seeing the slide you were just editing.

** It's even more noticeable when using the slides element as a single slide (i.e. for the ken burns effect and a CTA button) for example, in this scenario, clicking to edit the Styles/Advanced tab advances to a blank non-existent slide and you cannot see any live changes.

It is very frustrating to say the least.

Isolating the problem

  • This bug happens with only Elementor plugin active (and Elementor Pro).
  • This bug happens with a default WordPress theme active.
  • I can reproduce this bug consistently using the steps above.

Environment

Tried several different sites but have noticed this since the beginning just never took the time to report it. Thx
