@xalario The file extension chosen when saving a document is affected by system behavior. I’m aware that when saving Markdown, it can sometimes end up as .txt instead of .md, but I haven’t found a good workaround. I agree it’s inconvenient, so I’ll keep this on the list as an ongoing issue. |

CotEditor is great!
I mostly use it to write markdown. Thus I have selected this syntax option in
Preferences/Format/Default syntax.What I have not been able to change is the default extension at first save. It is always
.txtrathe than*.mdBy default then, syntax highlight is not operational.
Having to change the extension at each 1st save or, worst, having to modify it after saving is mildly cumbersome.
Is there a way to change the default file extension please? Thanks
My setup is macOs 15.7.4 — CotEditor Version 6.2.4 (794)
