So composefs/composefs#397 has been a really long running problem.

It's further bifurcated by the problem of composefs/composefs vs this project.

My latest thought is basically: move this repo into bootc-dev organization so that it's clearly part of the CNCF - but we just don't market it separately for now or have a separate booth etc.

We would keep its independence from bootc itself obviously because want to support at least the "app" (container runtime) use case (flatpak, podman, containerd, etc).

This is purely a "mechanics" thing - in e.g. https://github.com/bootc-dev/infra/ we've been building and maintaining things like common CI workflows and infra that would then automatically apply to this repository too.
