@kbailey4444 : Thanks for contributing to the GitHub CLI and opening this PR including testing! Would you be able to share a screen capture or terminal example of how you were testing these changes out? I think these changes make sense all-in-all. Someone is trying to create a release based on an existing annotated tag that contains description of the changes, rather than relying upon GitHub's auto-generated release notes, this is pulling from it instead. Just because the testing included doesn't extend to a live repository with tags, would you be able to share a screen capture or terminal example of how you were testing these changes out? |

@kbailey4444 : Would you be able to follow up with additional information from a live repository you were testing this against?
☝️ is the only thing I see blocking this PR. I think it is important to see practical use case beyond the simple unit tests included so we can reproduce and ensure compatible in the future. |
