With the release of Custom Agents (docs), it would be fantastic if we could programmatically create agentic tasks using the Custom Agents we define in our projects. Currently the only way to create an agent task is by going to https://github.com/copilot/agents, in github.com, or by going to repository and creating the task there via the web UI.

Proposed solution

Add Custom Agents as a new additional option/flag for gh agent-task create (source) to specifically assign a Custom Agent an agentic task.
