If there is a PTP grandmaster change in the Network the driver sill shows the mac address of the old GM. The Kernel logs also do not output any sings of changing to the new leader. Pulling the network cable and reconneccting it solves the issue.

I see that Merging has recently done some updates to the kernel module also on the PTP implementation, chances are that this problem is solved in the newest version.
