The instructions as they are will invariably cause users to install macports over homebrew since they are mentioned in the instructions first. Because homebrew is mentioned as used for other parts of the release process, it seems to make sense that this is preferred over macports if a bare minimum is to be installed. Therefore, I have moved it to earlier in the instructions to reduce the risk of people needing to install both.

This test script verifies pulls every time they are updated. It, however, dies sometimes and fails to test properly. If you are waiting on a test, please check timestamps to verify that the test.log is moving at http://jenkins.bluematt.me/pull-tester/current/

Not sure about this. Why prefer the one over the other? And if there is a clear preference, please put it in words instead of assuming people will make a decision based on the order of sections.

We've decided a few times now to drop the docs for macports, just never actually done it. Afaik nothing's changed here, so I'd prefer to just remove the references entirely.

ACK on dropping mention of MacPorts, brew seems to have won the package-manager-on-OSX war.
