this allows the lib to be vendored as a crate, otherwise it would depend on files outside the crate.

Fair enough but I really want that readme to be at the top level so you can see it directly on github, I would either, remove that doc from lib or copy the readme but that would be sad, what's your opinion? |

The readme is still at top level, there is just an extra symlink now in the lib directory |
