About
power-z-gha-runner is a GitHub App that allows users to execute GitHub Actions workflows on both IBM’s Power (ppc64le), LinuxONE and Z (s390x) architectures via ephemeral self-hosted Ubuntu VMs. Ideal for communities leveraging IBM infrastructure with GitHub’s CI/CD ecosystem.
Installation requirements:
-
Dual authorization: Grant access via GitHub and IBMid SSO.
-
Email alignment: GitHub account email must match IBMid SSO email. Non-IBM users must create an IBMid with a valid email. More info about IBMid. Additionally, you can find IBM's Privacy Statement here.
-
Post-installation, workflows can use one of our supported container images to run jobs on IBM’s isolated VMs. View a list of our supported images on our GitHub repo.
-
Permissions: This app does require admin read and write access in order to register the runner token. Read more about how the official GitHub API uses this token here. You can view the full list of permissions prior to the installation.
Key features:
Ubuntu images: Pre-configured OS with IBM-optimized tooling.
Secure access: SSO enforcement and build environment isolation
Scalability: On-demand runners for parallel workflows.
