What would you like?
Hi AetherSDR Team,
I’d like to add a feature that would improve usability and visual clarity in the spectrum display.
Feature:
Add the ability to adjust the thickness of the spectrum trace (keyline).
Description:
Currently, the spectrum line appears to have a fixed thickness. Introducing a user-controlled setting (e.g., a slider or dropdown) to make the trace thinner or thicker would allow users to tailor the display to their preferences and viewing conditions.
Use Cases:
Improved visibility: A thicker line helps when viewing on high-resolution or large displays.
Precision analysis: A thinner line makes it easier to distinguish fine signal details and closely spaced peaks.
Accessibility: Users with different visual preferences or impairments can optimize readability.
Presentation/recording: Adjusting thickness helps when capturing screenshots or demos.
Suggested Implementation:
Add a “Trace Thickness” or “Spectrum Line Width” option in display/FFT settings.
Range could be something like 1px–5px (or similar scale).
Optional: allow separate control for peak hold vs live trace.
Optional Enhancements:
Opacity/transparency control for the trace
Toggle between line, filled, or hybrid styles
Independent styling for active vs background traces
This would be a small but impactful customization that enhances both usability and flexibility of the spectrum display.
In audio visualization software (SDR / spectrum analyzers)
Most SDR apps (like SDR#, HDSDR, etc.) have a setting for:
Line thickness
Trace width
Spectrum style
Check in:
Display settings
FFT/spectrum settings
Theme/appearance
If there’s no direct control, sometimes switching from “line” → “filled” → “bars” gives a similar visual effect.
