Owner action: upload GitHub social preview image #15

@aaronlab

Description

@aaronlab

GitHub is still using its generated Open Graph preview for the repository. The launch asset is ready in the repo, but uploading the repository social preview requires owner access in GitHub Settings.

Prepared asset:

  • docs/social-preview.png
  • Source: docs/social-preview.svg

Why this matters for launch:

  • Shared repo links on X, LinkedIn, WeChat, Product Hunt, and newsletters should show the BrowserTrace positioning instead of a generic GitHub card.
  • Better previews improve click-through when people see the project outside GitHub.
  • This is an owner-only repository settings action and cannot be completed by automation.

Owner checklist:

  • Open repository Settings for aaronlab/browsertrace.
  • Go to General -> Social preview.
  • Upload docs/social-preview.png.
  • Save and wait a few minutes for link-preview caches to refresh.
  • Re-share the repo link in one controlled place and confirm the preview image is BrowserTrace-branded.

Stop rules:

  • Do not ask for stars, upvotes, reposts, or vote swaps when testing the preview.
  • Use this only to make legitimate project links clearer.
