What problem does this address?

Some users are reporting JavaScript errors and white screens when loading the new widget screens in 5.8.

What is your proposed solution?

I couldn't see any existing implementation, but it'd be good to add ErrorBoundary components to help users debug those kind of issues. This is what the post editor does when a JavaScript error occurs:

The Customizer implementation might be a little different, that might need some design input.
