With f787371 it looks like the documentation failed to build.

A quick fix for this is (probably) to pin sphinxcontrib-matlabdomain to an older version, but I think we're beginning to fight the tide with this one.

sphinxcontrib-versioning remains unchanged since 2019 and pinning sphinx to version 1.8.5 to keep it working is beginning to affect compatibility with other sphinx plugins, clearly.

I think we should move to sphinx-multiversion longer term, as development there is currently active and it ostensibly produces the same result. The only drawback is that the code that pushes the built docs to github (in sphinxcontrib-versioning) would have to manually recreated.
