Graphics Benchmark
Graphics benchmarks evaluate the full potential of a graphics system. Therefore, the results are heavily related to your host machine's hardware configurations. In Trinity's paper, we use a high-end and a low/middle-end PC for evaluation. Their configuraions are as follows.
-
High-end PC
- CPU: 6-core Intel i7-8750H CPU @2.2 GHz
- Memory: 16 GB RAM (DDR4 2666 MHz)
- GPU: NVIDIA GTX 1070 MAX-Q
- Display: 1920x1080
-
Low/middle-end PC
- CPU: 4-core Intel i5-9300H CPU @2.4 GHz
- Memory: 8GB RAM (DDR4 2666 MHz)
- GPU: Intel UHD Graphics 630
- Display: 1920x1080
NOTE: the benchmark results are also subject to your machine's current state. If your PC is overheating and thus performs performance throttling, the results may be quite low as the benchmarks test the extreme performance of your machine.
Make sure you are using the correct GPU to run the emulators if your PC has both a dedicated and integrated GPU, which can be examined at Windows' Task Manager when you turn on the GPU Engine tab. If the used GPU is not desirable, change the default GPU for running the emulators using NVIDIA's Control Panel (see here).
Follow the video below to run 3DMark.
Follow the video below to run GFXBench.

If you find that Google Play "crashes" on Trinity during login, simply wait for a second and retry it later. This is mostly because Google Play is updating itself as Trinity does not host the latest Google Play.
-
Bluestacks needs some special tweaks of options to run 3DMark and GFXBench. In the "Settings" page, go to "Graphics" and set "Graphics engine mode" to "Compatibility" to run 3DMark, to "Performance" to run GFXBench. Otherwise, the tests cannot be successfully run.
-
Not all emulators can run the tests, please refer to our paper's
Figure 4andFigure 5for more details. -
In the paper, we also compare our results with that of the native PC, which is done using the native Windows clients of 3DMark and GFXBench. Detailed guides below.
-
Unfortunately, 3DMark's Windows client is not free. If you wish to run the tests, you should purchase it here. This link points to the Cloudgate benchmark, which is the counterpart of the Slingshot benchmark on Android. If you cannot see the benchmark in newer versions of 3DMark, see here for guidance. Also, you should configure the benchmark to run without V-Sync as it does not provide an "unlimited" version of benchmark.
-
Download GFXBench Windows here. You should choose the OpenGL version of benchmarks for a fair comparision. Other settings are the same as that on Android.
