The current system is an utter patchwork that's riddled with race conditions and doesn't work as well as it should.
Necessary fixes:

• Not being updated on URL path change when visiting the same page twice
• Error when updating while player is minimized
• Apple Music album artwork is sometimes wrong, so there should be a way of toggling between providers
