Situation Description & Motivation

This epic aims to implement comprehensive Measles surveillance and case management in SORMAS, integrating Luxembourg specific requirements.

Measles remains a significant public health concern, with the need for rapid detection, case management, and reporting to European authorities. Luxembourg’s Division of Health Inspection (DIS) requires SORMAS to be adapted for Measles surveillance, ensuring compliance with national and ECDC standards, and supporting digital integration with laboratory and notification systems.

High-Level Explanation

1. Case Management & UI Enhancements

• Case Tabulation: Enable "Notification" box and "INFO" & case definition button (ECDC definition). Hide "Pre-existing conditions" and "Additional pre-existing information". Enable "Additional medical information" (pregnancy and postpartum).
• Symptom Tabulation:
  • Hide "Clinical measurement" section.
  • Update "Clinical sign and symptoms" and "Complications" sections to Measles-specific lists (e.g., fever, exanthema/rash, cough, coryza, conjunctivitis, Koplik spots, adenopathy, arthralgia, etc.), each as Yes/No/Unknown, with date fields where required.
  • Display "Date of Onset".
• Contact Tabulation: Enable and adapt to Measles requirements, including vaccination status and quarantine.
• Therapy and Clinical Course: Hide these tabulations for Measles.
• Epidemiological Data: Add "Imported status" dropdown and "Cluster related" options as per ECDC.

2. Samples and Pathogen Tests

• Sample Types: Restrict to a specified list and add new types: "Dry blood spot", "Amniotic fluid".
• Pathogen Tests: Restrict to PCR, Culture, IgM serum antibody, IgG serum antibody, Sequencing. Add "Genotyping" test with result as a serogroup from the specified list.

3. Contact Management

• Type of Contact: Hide "Touched fluid of source case" and "manipulation of clothes of source case".
• Quarantine: Enable quarantine for contacts.
• Medical Information: Hide "Pre-existing conditions" and "Additional relevant pre-existing conditions". Display "Additional medical information" (pregnancy and postpartum).
• Vaccination Status: Update dropdown with new options and logic for dates/free text. Add checkboxes for "vaccination proposed" and "Immune Globulin proposed".
• Other: Hide "New Sample" card and "Follow-up visits" tabulation.

4. Immunization

• Only number of doses is needed, but list of vaccines available in Luxembourg could be included.
