Suppose a way defined by

a - b - |c| - d - e

where node c is a bollard. Routing from a to a point within b-c is not possible at the moment. The segment b - c is completely blocked. The same applies to c - d.

Routing from a point within b - c in direction to point a is possible. So the problem is direction sensitive.
