Users often have trouble figuring out how to model PV systems with DC optimizers or multiple inverter MPPT inputs.

I’m trying to model projects using SolarEdge 3 phase inverters, which allow you to use 2 modules per DC optimizer. But Sam appears to only allow one.

I have a problem with the calculation of current in SAM. I have a system layout of 16 panels in 2 series (Almaden M60 280W) in one MPPT. The maximum current for inverter per MPPT is 13A but there is no warning message that 16x2 panels is over the limit of maximum current per MPPT. Why? Is this a problem with SAM or am I thinking about this the wrong way?

This NREL paper on SolarAPP+ mentions 55% of residential systems included in study use DC-optimizers, and 33% use microinverters: Cook, Jeff, Rosalie Yu, Kaifeng Xu, Sushmita Jena, Tim Rivard, and Jessica de la Paz. 2023.
