Description

This PR is the first part of Braze integration. It's currently only
creating Braze users based on their profile id, and registering their
FCM/APN tokens to start filling up Braze database with tokens.

Note

Medium Risk
Adds a new third-party push/engagement SDK and changes native push
handling/initialization on both iOS and Android, which could affect
notification delivery and app startup. Build tooling changes (Kotlin
forcing + patched dependency) also increase risk of platform-specific
build regressions.

Overview
Introduces Braze as a new mobile dependency and wires it into both
native platforms to start registering push tokens and supporting
Braze-driven notifications.

On Android, adds Braze API key/endpoint injection via Gradle
resources, registers BrazeFirebaseMessagingService as the primary FCM
handler with a fallback to the existing RN Firebase service, and
initializes Braze lifecycle callbacks; it also pins Kotlin/serialization
versions and patches @braze/react-native-sdk to keep builds compatible
with Kotlin 1.9.

On iOS, adds Braze keys to Info.plists and initializes a shared
Braze instance in AppDelegate using build-injected credentials,
enabling Braze push automation while preserving the existing permission
flow.

On the JS side, adds a small app/core/Braze layer plus
useBrazeIdentity hooked into useIdentityEffects to call
Braze.changeUser(profileId) on sign-in (skipped in E2E), along with
Jest mocks/tests and new build/CI env vars for Braze secrets (examples,
build.sh, workflow, and config verification).

🔍 Smart E2E Test Selection

  • Selected E2E tags: SmokeIdentity, SmokeWalletPlatform, SmokeAccounts
  • Selected Performance tags: @PerformanceLaunch, @PerformanceLogin
  • Risk Level: medium
  • AI Confidence: 82%

E2E Test Selection:

This PR introduces the Braze SDK (push notification/marketing platform) into MetaMask Mobile. Key changes:

  1. New Braze SDK dependency (@braze/react-native-sdk v19.1.0) added to package.json with a custom yarn patch
  2. New app/core/Braze/index.ts - setBrazeUser() function that calls AuthenticationController.getSessionProfile() and then Braze.changeUser(). Has an isE2E guard to skip during E2E tests.
  3. New app/core/Braze/useBrazeIdentity.ts - React hook watching selectIsSignedIn state, calls setBrazeUser() on sign-in
  4. useIdentityEffects.ts modified - Now includes useBrazeIdentity() call. This hook is used in app/components/Nav/Main/index.js (main navigation component), meaning it runs for all authenticated sessions
  5. Native platform initialization - iOS AppDelegate.m and Android MainApplication.kt both initialize Braze SDK at app startup with API keys from Info.plist/build.gradle
  6. Build infrastructure - New Braze secrets added to builds.yml, scripts/build.sh, scripts/verify-build-config.js, and CI workflow

Why these tags:

  • SmokeIdentity: The useBrazeIdentity hook is directly integrated into the identity effects pipeline (useIdentityEffects). It reacts to selectIsSignedIn state changes. Sign-in/sign-out flows, account syncing, and profile sync are all affected. This is the primary area of change.
  • SmokeWalletPlatform: useIdentityEffects is called from app/components/Nav/Main/index.js (main navigation). Any regression in this hook could affect the main navigation component and wallet platform features. Also covers multi-SRP architecture which is related to identity.
  • SmokeAccounts: Per tag description, when changes touch multi-SRP architecture or SRP export flows, also select SmokeAccounts. The Braze identity is tied to the MetaMask profile ID (from AuthenticationController), which is part of the account/identity system.

Why NOT other tags:

  • No changes to transaction, swap, bridge, confirmation, or trading flows → SmokeTrade, SmokeConfirmations, SmokeRamps, SmokePerps, SmokePredictions not needed
  • No changes to network management or chain permissions → SmokeNetworkAbstractions, SmokeNetworkExpansion, SmokeMultiChainAPI not needed
  • No changes to Snaps → FlaskBuildTests not needed
  • No changes to Card feature → SmokeCard not needed

E2E Safety: The isE2E guard in setBrazeUser() ensures Braze won't make external calls during E2E tests, reducing risk of test interference.

Performance Test Selection:
The Braze SDK is initialized at app startup in both iOS AppDelegate.m and Android MainApplication.kt (registerActivityLifecycleCallbacks, BrazeReactBridge.initBraze). This native SDK initialization happens during app launch and could impact cold/warm start times (@PerformanceLaunch). Additionally, the useBrazeIdentity hook runs during the sign-in flow via useIdentityEffects, which could affect login/unlock performance (@PerformanceLogin). These are the two most relevant performance test areas given the native SDK initialization at startup and the identity hook integration.
