Description
In this issue, I will list things for the accessiblity build and the audio cues that need to be required. It is better to have things that need to be improved in a list rather than scattered across several messages. I will go through areas in order below.
- The most notable audio cue that needs to be improved is the aiming. This is associated with slingshot aiming, boomerang aiming, hookshot, bow. Currently there is a audio cue for aiming up/down, but making precise aiming is difficutl since you can't line up targets. There is no audio cue for aiming left/right.
- In Lake Hylia, audio cues are missing for the following actors: Both scarecrows in the lakeside area, laboratory NPC in the lab area, fisherman in the fihsing hole.
- In Zora's Domain, audio cues are missing for the following actors: King Zora, various Zora, diving mini-game has no audio cues for finding the rupees that drop down.
- In the Market area, there is lack of audio cues for the various exits. It is a bit hard to know what exit you go through like for Back Alley or Temple of Time. Currently only audio cue exist for Hyrule Castle and back out of the Market.
- Gerudo Valley is hard to get across the narrow bridge at the beginning since no audio cue is there and it is very easy to fall of into the water.
- Wall sounds can be improved since it is sometimes hard to know which wall you follow or the audio cues make you think you are near something else. For example, in Jabu Jabu, you hear the sound of water near a wall. Also the wind audio cue also makes you think you are not at a wall which can make you confused.
- It is also very easy to jump off small platforms or ledges such as in Jabu Jabu. This can make it hard to navigate very small platforms and can lead to blind players jumping off.
- For holes, the audio cues can be a bit confusing since the wind sound can make it hard to know where holes are. If you have multiple holes, this can be a challenge.
- Hyrule Field is a pain to navigate and get around to places. There are audio cues for entrances like to Lon Lon Ranch, Kakariko Village etc, but other than that, there are not much landmarks to go off for navigation. I would propose more added landmarks or beacon to make it easier for blind players to get around.
- Speaking of the entrance sounds, these can make you get confused while trying to navigate to areas in Hyrule Field. You hear the sounds from far away, but the problem is that they are not straight so you can get stuck on walls.
- Vines and ladders share the same audio cue which can make it quite difficult to hear the difference between what is waht. Signs also share similar audio cues.
- Ledges and gravestones share similar audio cues which also make it hard for you to know what is what.
- In the Temple of Time area, there is no audio cue for the Master Sword once you open the Door of TIme. THis makes you wander around teh room and is potential for making blind players just wander around.
- In Lon Lon Ranch, getting around the area to go to the silo or to get the Gold Skulltula can be a bit challenging since the area where the horses are and where Malon is when Link is a child is a big area. It can be tough to get around without any clear direction or audio cues.
- In Goron City, there is a boulder maze you can go through while using bombs to blow up the rocks. The problem here is that there is no difference between teh audio cues for regular rocks and rocks you can use the gauntlets for. So the audio cues need to be much clearer.
- In Dodongo's Cavern, you need to go across a bridge and drop bombs into the eyes of the dead Dodongo statue. There is no audio cue for this bridge or how to know where you need to stand in order to drop down the bombs. And it is pretty easy to fall off.
- In one of the rooms in Dodongo's Vavern, you get to fight Dodongos that can only be hit by moving around and hitting the tail. There is no audio cue for the tail so blind players have to guess where the tail is.
- In kakariko Village, you can visit the House of Spiders to lift the curse by collecting the tokens of the Gold Skulltulas. There is no audio cue to let you know who you have saved.
- When you enter a hidden grotto in the overworld, the audio cue for the exit point is way too loud. The volume of the audio cue could be adjusted.
- In Kakariko Village, you can visit the graveyard. I noticed that all the graves share the same audio cue so it is a bit unclear which garve is which.
- When you are a adult, you get to enter Dampe's grave and do a arce against Dampe. This race is difficult to do and would require beacons. Also may require extended timer.
- After you meet up with Saria and learn Saria's SOng, if you want to go through Lost Woods again, the music doesn't get louder when you go the right direction. This needs to be adjusted for the accessibility build.
- In the Sacred Forest Meadow, it is hard to navigate the area since you can't know the distance between Link and enemies. ALso it is quite easy to get turned around in the area.
- If you enter a passage like through a hole or a open door, it is a bit hard to know if you pass through. I would like a audio cue for that.
- In Kakariko Village, you can do a mini-game to collect the Cucco running around. Whiile there are audio cues for the chicken, this mini-game can be tough for blind players to complete.
- I would relaly like there to be a way to know your direction. Like if you add a audio cue for which direction you face or a key to get current heading. This could also help get us to know our bearings.audio cues as well as
