I've implemented a self mutable recreate_swap_chain function as proposed in Vulcan tutorial, whose definition looks like this:

But I get this error and I don't know how to get out of it :/

I've also tried to use ref mut base, as suggested, with no luck. I guess, that it's impossible to mutate the value when the render_loop argument function F: Fn(&Self) + 'static> requires a reference? Hence the error that it cannot borrow reference as mutable.

I thought of implementing a Copy trait to ExampleBase and changing the the function type to F: Fn(Self) + 'static, but that's seems too nasty to me. Any thoughts?
