Currently we display the version of the plugin that's installed, and notify users of an update. This is a useful features that kind of encourages users to stay updated.

The Asset has a review process before updates can be released. So users who install via the Asset Store will see the latest version from Git that's still in review by Unity. Instead, users should see what's the latest version available on the Asset Store.
