Symptoms

The game window will display a black screen and hang when attempting to play one of Mega Man 8's story FMVs. If interacted with (for skipping the video), the game window will stop responding altogether.

Steps to reproduce

1. Launch game with Proton-CachyOS selected as the Steam Play compatibility tool;
2. Select 'Games' > 'Mega Man 8' > 'Play';
3. Wait for the game to load;
4. Press any button, then select 'Game Start';
5. See issue.

This is a quite long-standing issue in GE-Proton as well — old reports at ProtonDB can corroborate. Only Valve's transcoded videos seem to play fine.
