Problem Statement

I am trying to justify using Flow as an absolute alternative to YouTube. I am massively appreciative of the work you are doing to make that possible.

One thing YouTube has, that Flow or any alternative with watch history import functionality does not have, is the ability to look at your search history and search by keyword from title, or filter by set characteristics.

Proposed Solution

The data is clearly there and indexable.

A search function to be implemented on the "watch history" button, located on the "library" tab.

A filter option with drop down options- e.g. sort by time, filter by year.

User Story

  • As a casual viewer
I want a search and filter feature to be added to watch history,
so that Flow can best mirror a full YouTube alternative.

Alternatives Considered

Other options include
-manual search of takeout files with text viewer
-Use YouTube app or web page

Priority Assessment

  • Critical — I can't use Flow effectively without this
  • High — I'd use this feature daily
  • Medium — Nice to have, would improve my experience noticeably
  • Low — Minor improvement, not urgent

Platform Considerations

Does this feature depend on or interact with anything specific?
Check all that apply.

  • Requires network access
  • Works offline
  • Involves local data storage
  • Affects battery life
  • Needs special Android permissions
  • Interacts with other apps or system features
  • None of the above / Not sure

Existing Solutions

YouTube app has it. No open source or alternative implementations have it, to my knowledge.
