Homebrew is a popular package manager for macOS and it provides a package (a so-called formula) for PHPStan. This way, PHPStan can be installed as a standalone CLI tool and kept up to date.

Updating that formula currently requires a human being to open a PR whenever a new release of PHPStan is available. Homebrew provides a command line utility that automates creating that PR. This human being could be replaced by a bot.

Apparently, a GitHub action exists for this purpose, but I haven't used it yet: https://github.com/marketplace/actions/homebrew-bump-formula
