How do you re-stick the Tool Options menu to the toolbox? I work at the library only (no computer at home), and it reboots itself and solves my problem every time I get a new session. But in the mean time I get stuck with a loose menu that hides and gets itself behind the toolbox. I think I am trying to click and drag something on the menu, maybe widen it, but it detaches itself and gets behind the toolbox.
I'm sure the best answer is "don't do that", but there are a lot of distractions here and it just seems to keep happening.

Also the program sometimes shuts down when I am trying to copy to a new GIMP document from on I'm working on. This might be the library not updating every time GIMP puts out an update, and there is a way around it by copying to IE Paint from the current GIMP doc, then copying from Paint to new GIMP doc, but a little time consuming.

Thanks.

GIF Images Not Working?

Hello, I just started using GIMP last night and while I've made a few animated GIF's and they've worked correctly, any time I try to make an animated GIF now, all I do is run into problems with any images I use. I use GIMP 2.8 by the way.

When I go to open layers and add the multiple images I want, they now look like this:

I'll show you an example:

What am I doing wrong and how do I fix this? This happens not just when I use GIF's with couples in it, but now when I do single people, too. Please and thanks for any help.

PS: I don't know what to tag this, so please excuse there being no tags.

So I learned how to make meme font. My method is:

* Write what I want in <s>black</s> white ImpactCondensed.
* Add a few pixels to the Layer Boundary size.
* Alpha to Selection to outline the text.
* Grow the selection by 2-3 pixels.
* Fill the selection with black.

I want to macro this, because it's painfully time-consuming.
Banner and/or text tutorials?

So one of the comms I'm still in here on LJ is holding a banner contest and while I want to join in, my only skills are in making icons and the fact that it requires text on it too makes it hard for me because I've never been able to master text worth anything on GIMP (let's put it this way, most icons I've ever put text on gets few, if any, votes DX).

In particular, text tutorials would help out A LOT, as would anything that deals with borders or just working on a space larger than 100x100. I especially want tutorials that use anime, manga, or JRPG images because most text tutorials I find use live action and that doesn't often translate well into drawn styles. XP

Dear comm members,
I am very new to the art side of things, I haven't even posted anything on lj yet. But I'd like to; I'm currently working on a prompt for the SPN fandom. Unfortunately, my muses ran rampant and now I'm a little stuck with gimp. So I'd love to talk to someone about their experiences with creating gifs there. Specifically, is there any way to avoid the mode switch to 'indexed' from RGB? Because that just about slaughters the whole thing (which you experienced people probably were already aware of but I wasn't). Grayscales are fine quality wise, but I'd love to keep it colored.
Also, I'm currently at 100+ layers for the background alone - the muses, I'm telling you - and that makes the .xcf file huge and veeery slow to work with. Not only do I still need to tweak the whole thing to smooth it out, but I also need to add the actual foreground sequence with the characters so now I'm thinking about doing that in a second file and merging both of them in the end, probably by creating a new layergroup for every single background layer. Has anyone done that kind of thing before or knows the problems I'm talking about? I'm sure there must be easier ways to do this, so any advice would be highly appreciated.

Dear mods, I have no idea about tagging this or if this is even the right place to ask these things so I'm sorry for all mistakes I probably made.
