Over de auteur

Ann M. Martin grew up in Princeton, New Jersey. After attending Smith College, where she studied education and psychology, she became a teacher at a small elementary school in Connecticut. Martin also worked as an editor of children’s books before she began writing full time. Martin is best known for the Baby-Sitters Club series, which has sold over one hundred seventy million copies. Her novel A Corner of the Universe won a Newbery Honor in 2003. In 1990, she cofounded the Lisa Libraries, which donates new children’s books to organizations in underserved areas. Martin lives in upstate New York with her three cats.

    In this book, 16 year old Maggie and her older brother are left to care for their 4 year old sister, Courtenay, while their father and step mother go to St. Barth's for a belated honeymoon. When Courtenay goes missing, the family must navigate the world of missing persons before the time of Amber Alerts (the book takes place in 1986) and race against the clock to find Courtenay before it's too late. Well-written and kept me on the edge of my seat. I couldn't put it down! A quick read --- I finished it in an afternoon.

    This book is written by Ann M. Martin. This is a story of a teenage girl and her family as they deal with her younger sister disappearance. Maggie, the teenage girl, and her brother are in charge of the younger sister while their father and step-mother are out of town. The young girl turns up missing one day and their world is turned upside down. There is some information about missing children searches. It does become a bit muffled in the midst of everything. It could have been stretched out more but wouldn't be as quick to read. The story builds and you don’t want to put the book down. It is well written and very quick to read. I read this story as a teenager and still like it. Overall it’s a very quick book with an interesting story.

    Maggie's dad and stepmom are going away for the week. Maggie and her brother Mike, are taking care of they're half sister Courtney. They think they can handle everything. They have a party, with Courtney, and have fun. But, on Monday morning, Maggie puts Courtney on the bus. Courtney dosn't come home. It turns out she never made it to school. She was kidnaped. The detectives who are working on the case hardly have any clues. They have three suspects: Leigh (Maggie's stepmom)'s ex-huspand, Maggie's mom, and a goony high-school dropout, who follows Maggie around. One night Maggie gets a call from her mother, does she have Courtney?! Read this book to find out! It's REALLY good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I ordered the book because my favorite NBA player stated it was his favorite book. I couldn't lay it down after I started reading until I had completed the book. Great reading.
