Maybe It's Fate (English Edition) Kindle-editie
In a moving story of love and loss, a corporate consultant leaves her life behind to care for her dying friend’s children—and finds hope with the small-town coach who steps up to the plate with her.
From the author of The Art of Starting Over comes a heartfelt portrait of what it means to build a family, as a young woman navigates grief, guardianship, and the bittersweet gift of falling in love.
The only thing that could pull Antonia Bernardi away from her high-powered career is her lifelong best friend. And with two children and a cruel prognosis, Miriam Vaughn needs her now more than ever.
Antonia drops everything—her job, her relationship—to be there for the Vaughns. Playing mom to Miriam’s teenage son and seven-year-old daughter is a tall order made heavier by grief. But the kids need her, and she needs them.
Then there’s the boy’s coach and mentor, former MLB star Weston Schmidt. He’s a pillar of support, a safe space for Antonia to rest. But there’s too much going on to even think about romance … or maybe that’s exactly why they should.
Adjusting to life without her best friend, Antonia leans into her new role as guardian, doing work she loves and repairing the old farmhouse Miriam cherished. Nothing can stop the world from spinning—but Antonia has every reason to keep on going.

Court0517Beoordeeld in de Verenigde Staten op 31 maart 20265,0 van 5 sterren Emotional Read - Well worth the tears!
Formaat: Kindle-editieGeverifieerde aankoopI knew this book was going to be emotional, which is why I took my time reading this one. I needed the time to sit with my emotions but also because I wanted to take my time with this one.
I have so many highlights is in this book of quotes or moments that just stood out to me. But there was one that resonated with me because it hit my soul hard.
"I don't know my life without you in it."
I couldn't even type that without tears forming. This book was a whole bout of emotions that you can only get from a profoundly written story.
Maybe It's Fate is told from three POVs - Antonia, Cutter and Weston. Seeing the perspective from Miriam's best friend, teenage son and her neighbor, who just also happens to be Cutter's teacher and coach, creates a story that will resonate with anyone.
In my opinion, I wouldn't wholly categorize this as a romance so much as women's fiction because the entire story is about so much more than the romance. Maybe people who read more women's fiction would say it's to far into the romance aspect because you can tell early on that there will be something happening between Weston and Tony at some point - it just doesn't happen til later in the book. Regardless, just know that the romance happens in the latter part of this book.
Heidi did a wonderful job of letting this story unfold naturally and let the character tell their story. I love that we see this from Cutter's POV. It's rare that we get insight from a teenager who will be deeply affected by life-altering changes in their life and I love that I could easily understand and see Cutter's perspective. It just added another layer to this story and also showed how this was more than just a romance.
Overall, another smashing hit from Heidi. I love these type of stories from Heidi because she delivers them with such authenticity and it's a breath of fresh air when reading. Yes, my emotions are wrecked, but I love that these stories are also cathartic for me too.

Formaat: Kindle-editieGeverifieerde aankoop⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Maybe It’s Fate by Heidi McLaughlin absolutely wrecked me in the best way.
If you’re a mom, get the Kleenex box and if you’re a boy mom grab two boxes.
This story pulled so many emotions out of me that I didn’t expect. I didn’t just tear up… I sobbed. Twice. The kind of crying where you have to stop reading for a minute because your heart just feels so full.
The emotional depth in this book is incredible. The love, the heartbreak, the healing, and the way fate weaves everything together made this story impossible to put down. Heidi McLaughlin has a beautiful way of making you feel every moment alongside the characters.
If you love emotional romances that completely pull you in and leave you thinking about the story long after you finish the last page, this one is a must-read.
This book broke my heart and put it back together again.
✨ Definitely a 5 star read for me.

L. WilsonBeoordeeld in de Verenigde Staten op 21 maart 20265,0 van 5 sterren Maybe it's Fate - Outstandingly Different
Formaat: Kindle-editieGeverifieerde aankoopI've read hundreds of romance books and it's RARE to find one that isn't some same-old plot or troupe. This one is totally just a story, but a heartfelt one. Lots of emotion and has more than one point of view throughout - and it worked. If I had ONE criticism, Weston was almost TOO perfect. Name a good personality trait and he's got it in spades. But I loved the whole story. Totally worth my time.
