  I am not one to write reviews but I enjoyed this book. The story and characters were compelling. I finished this in kindle unlimited but I will be buying it shortly to own as I know I will be reading this again. I can’t wait for the next one in the series.

  This book is awesome. This book has squirrels. It has a cat. It has excellent character development. What more could you ask for?

  For a LitRPG, this is a rare gem indeed.

  It is well written, easy to read, has very few spelling/grammatical errors, and best of all, it's CLEAN.

  I have absolutely NO COMPLAINTS whatsoever about this book. I bought the ebook because it's cheaper, but will probably get myself a paperback too so I can loan it out and just because I like the feel of paper.

  So many books I've tried in the LitRPG genre (not this one though) start off fine before suddenly showcasing such bouts of profanity (or graphic depictions/descriptions of- stuff) that just come out of nowhere that it's almost laughable. Almost. It's really annoying, and it usually feels out of place, almost as if it's some weird form of obligatory fanservice.

  Most stories would stand on their own merits just fine without that stuff, and I'm pretty sure there aren't many people out there who'll read a book and say "Man! That story completely stunk because it didn't have enough cussing!" while I'm sure there are a lot who would say just the opposite.

  I suppose I should say for anyone that there are a few moments were cussing is implied ("she cursed wildly-") or maybe a few times where !@#$$!#*& is used, but there is absolutely NO actual foul language written in the book.

  Anyhoo, rants aside, this is a great story told well and told cleanly. I'd recommend it to anyone looking into the LitRPG genre.

  A thoroughly enjoyable book! Once I picked it up, I just had to get to the end. I’m not sure what I loved more, the concept, the characters, or the way in which it is written. Although I was mentally screaming at the characters at some of things they were doing, it was great to see their growth and how everything comes together at the end. Despite the full circle plot, I love that there are still questions that I have left to be answered in future instalments - will Felix start actively engaging his physical strength and speed to assist his in-game abilities? If book 1 is beast master, what kind of role will Felix take on next (will he unlock more of his beast master skills, gain an extra companion and we get to see the dynamic of two beats fighting for Felix’s attention?) will we find out what Mr Biggles’ first name is? And will Larry have his special bond with Mrs Norris, Jr?

  In summary, this is an amazing story from a new author who’s shown that they have what it takes to bring to us a full rounded series that I look forward to reading. I recommend this immensely to anyone even remotely interested in the genre!

  Really an excllent read. It didnt grab me during the first 20% but after that it became impossible to put down. Loved the action but it also made me cry at some of the important moments. Really worth reading for any fans of the genre especilay with an intresting take on a class i personally havent seen much of before

  The typical story of a nerd who discovers his MMO experience become useful when the world becomes a video game, it hits all the expected points albeit with some decent humour and fun ideas. A beast master with a house cat is a cool concept and they explore it fully enough, and the litrpg elements are not over the top or too mechanical, just enough to be tactical without being boring.

  However the rest of the story is fairly generic with all the tropes I expect. Pretty girl who secretly likes nerd stuff, overweight comic relief best friend, rich strong bully etc. The place they live is called Townsdale-can't get more generic than that.

  Still I liked the story and if there is a sequel, which the ending definitely hints at, I would definitely be interested. Especially if there are more Pcs with new classes, as well as more unique or creative story/character twists.
