  I wanted it to be over in the best way

  I want to preface this by saying that I usually set a hard 4-star limit for any book with an obvious need for an editor, and the concentration of typos and grammatical errors right at the end almost had me following that. But I can't give this book anything less than full marks purely for the unchecked delight the story brought me.

  The world-building and character development in this series are unrivaled. The premise of the genre is world building, but the attention to detail and continuity are exceptional. The periodic addition of more and varied interesting player characters, the development displayed by James and Rue, and even some crazy and unexpected twists from other recurring characters, AIs and mobs flesh out an already deep, chaotic and strangely loveable world.

  The pacing of the story was both perfect and infuriating. I loved every second of the plotting and execution; the surprise tactics our random/chaos dungeon is able to produce alongside the carnage and insanity of the candy dungeon made for exciting and frustrating encounters I always wanted more of. Yet I was so drawn into the passion and drive of the characters that I just NEEDED to get to the end. Which, as should really have been expected, is another crazy twist. I churned through this book, my last couple of hours of reading it squeezed in between appointments at work today. It was truly difficult to put this down.

  It's hard to choose a target audience, though it is far from serious or realistic. It is definitely geared towards those with traditionally nerdy interests, but even our main character, James, doesn't understand half of the references made and he's still having a blast. This has nods to a plethora of nerdy pop culture references for nearly every niche group, an element of chaos that those who would appreciate those references really seem to love, and with writing this exceptional it's hard to go wrong. There's a little bit of drama and thriller in there, plenty of comedy, and more action than you'll know what to do with. If you're looking for a little bit of the fantastical in your life, look no further.

  Love this guys books. And these remastered ones are masterful. Plenty of references and old nerd like me gets. And just the right side of ridiculous antics. I deeply need this man to keep writing these...

  Can't even begin to tell you how satisfying I find these characters.

  Still loving this series, looking forward to the next book, it's a mash up of tropes and pop culture references especially from other series in this genre

  What a crazy war

  This book had me by the edge. Like seriously everything was so well done, the fights were epic, so much creativity in how the war was fought and above all a kick ass conclusion to book 2. I look forward to book 3.

  Also James was a badass in book 2. Sure he had his slip ups and all but still a very nice book

  The well written characters and awesome storyline makes m want to keep reading more about DCO and our main protagonist.
