Bone Dungeon (Elemental Dungeon #1) - A Dungeon Core LitRPG (English Edition)

Een heerlijk boek om lekker weg te lezen, soms is het taalgebruik wat minder interessant of voelt het wat 'jong' aan, maar hierbij bedenkende dat dit het eerste uitgebrachte boek is van deze schrijver is het in ieder geval beter dan de eerste boeken van Terry Pratchett.

Helaas is het alleen in het engels verkrijgbaar maar voor de kleine prijs is het het waard om gewoon lekker te genieten van de woordgrappen en de pop-culture referenties die er in zitten, wat ook te lezen is in mijn titel.

A very interesting universe, with many classical dungeon core elements. Worth taking the time to read, and I hope the author provides a sequal to the story!

It begins with the basic core-bound-to-fairy trope: someone died tragically to be reincarnated as a core, and now they must grow in power. His affinity? Darkness. Pleasantly strange, however, is the divine patron of his reincarnation. Hint: NOT a dark god! The MC grinds through the hard path to power, honoring his guiding fairy's wish that he not cross lines quite tempting for dark dungeons which could make humankind uneasy with his continued existence. At first, he simply seeks to continue existing, but Foregoing the easy route has consequences, some of them dangerous. There is a reason rogue dungeons are destroyed, powers that can grow with their aid, and refusing to embrace ruthlessness results in those powers in turn seeking to shatter his diamond core, to take for themselves his power through more direct means.

Im eager to continue with this universe, and hope more books follow quickly after. Jon Smidt has a brilliant sence of timing and pacing, as well as a propendency for puns and quircky sense of humor. Most important however, his world feels VERY cohesive, with at least a sufficently-potentialed branching magic and class system for the human characters. I have the feeling that if the author continues writing in this vein, he may end up being a staple in dungeon core.

the story follows the classic dungeon core storyline with a weak mc in the beginning that grows stronger/levels up as time goes on. What makes this story unique is its lovely characters and seeing them interact with each other. You just can't help to cheer for them or laugh at their quips. All in all it was an enjoyable read

OK, so in short this book was great. Loved the characters and how they developed. A great balance between the action, drama and dungeon building kept me entertained throughout. Can't wait for book Two and highly recommended you read this one. Oh and the humour is good and the puns.. Well nuff said. Read this book.

So, this book was a blast form start to finish. This is my first review ever here but I feel like this book has earned it. I'm a fan of dungeon stories and have read dozens of them at this point, but this one was one of the best so far. With high entertainment value ranging from the best stupid puns to well thought-out emotional background of the characters and from highly entertaining references to tense fighting scenes and good action, this book cost me many hours of sleep over a few days

10/10 would get sleep-deprived for a story like this again.
