I really should update this more often..*sigh*

Went to see the Vek last night at the Social ... loved him! He put on a great show. The support band, Clor, were really cool too. It was packed (sold out, I think). When did he suddenly get so popular?! A few months ago no one would even come and see him with me cos they'd never even heard of him and they thought I was weird! lol

We went to the indie club at Rock City afterwards. I think Nottingham has turned me into a pretentious indie snob! Needless to say we had a good laugh at some of the people in there (and the music!) - Still I had a few drinks and ended up dancing like a loon anyway, sometimes cheese can be fun!

They are in favour of a ban on smoking in public places, but would relax laws on cannabis. They propose to change vehicle taxation to be based on usage rather than ownership.

Take the test at Who Should You Vote For

Guess I shouldn't vote for the Tories then :-)

I'm not quite sure why I'm up so early, my head hurts baaaad! Plus I have the flu from hell. nice!

We went to see the Rakes last night. I was doing the street team stuff for them, so got there about half 6ish. The tour manager comes to meet us and tells us we're gonna be selling the t-shirts and we get 10% of the takings!! WTF!! Queue big spazz in my head about being totally not cool enough to be on the The Rakes merchandise stall!!

So we set up the stuff, meet the band, and then they invite us to the pub!! Apparently it was the oldest pub in Britain or something like that, we'd never been there but they seemed well into it! They even went round giving us a fake guided tour, mad! And they kept buying us free drinks, (in fact the 20 quid I drew out for last night is still neatly folded up in my purse)!!

We left a little early so we could be there when the doors open, at first no one was buying anything (not even a badge) I was starting to think we looked totally lameo, but then my mate Angie came along, people seem to be magnetically drawn to her, so we made about £80 for them in the end, and I got a free t-shirt!!
Missed the support bands, cos they put the stall in a shitty place, but they sounded a bit crap anyway (esp Vatican DC). Jamie from The Rakes was going on about how Battle are gonna be the next Bloc Party.. hmmm!!!

The Rakes were amazing! Got totally crushed during 22 Grand Job and Strasbourg, it was worth it though! I love this band so much. Seriously think they're gonna make the big time.

Afterwards we went to the aftershow at some guy's house, it was a bit silly, everyone was fucked, a lot of people collapsed on the floor quite early on! Had a good time though.

yeah brilliant night, The Rakes are a really lovely band. Much nicer than The Others, we didn't even get a free badge out of them!! pah!

Does anyone know where I can get hold of mp3s by the following bands? Art Brut, Maximo Park, Black Wire, The Subways, The Cherubs, The Paddingtons, Tom Vek (in fact anything like any of these bands, I wanna hear some new music!!!) If anyone can send me these tracks, that would be lovely :-). Maybe we can do a swap? Cheers

Hey, I haven't posted on here in a long while, but I was at the 'riot' gig last night and just felt as if I wanted to say something about it.

You can't keep people waiting in a hot and cramped mosh pit for 3 hours, not giving any hint as to whats going on or whether he's gonna turn up, and expect people just to shrug their shoulders and leave peacefully.

I know I, for one, was furious. I didn't get involved in the riot, merely viewed it from the safety of the bar area, but I could understand why people felt the need to chuck stuff, cause a bit of a stir etc. They treated us like shit. (Although smashing valuable equipment and pulling on heavy lighting was a step too far)

It only got truly frightening when one of the security started whipping people with an electric wire. WTF? I can honestly say I have never seen such mindless violence. 100s of people running around screaming, terrified and crushing to escape down a tiny set of stairs is something I never want to experience again. Getting home and reading about that poor kid who did get beat, made me really really sad.

And then theres the (pretty much) single cause of all this carnage - Pete. I will not be going to anymore of his gigs until he gets his act together - I'm willing to bet a lot of money that he never apologises either.

He let down a lot of his fans last night - he needs help, and fast.

The Franz last night!!!!!!! Yay!!!!

The train was half an hour late but got there just in time for The Kills. I didn't realise I knew (and liked) so many of their songs! I guess there could be some comparisons with The White Stripes.. but much much better. It was a pity about the chavs nearby who kept shouting 'f*** off' every 2 minutes, most people could barely be arsed to clap. Eurgh.

Then Franz... they were amazing everyone was getting well into it (esp the tart in front of me who kept jumping up and down on my toes, in her heels, ouch!!!) Ha ha it was really bizarre when one of them came out in a gimp mask for the encore, WTF!!!!!!!!!!

Trains took ages, couldn't be arsed with Lennons. We went home, and after many protests I finally agreed to watch Finding Nimo .. and it is the cutest film. ever. (this coming from the girl who hates soppy Disney smaltz .. *sigh* .. i must be getting old!)

Am now desparately scouring ebay for Razorlight and Interpol tickets... argh its so frustrating!!!! must.kill.computer.

Oh... I was supposed to be seeing 10,000 Things tonight but I'm too ill

So disappointed.

I've never been too ill to go to a gig before, knowing my luck it will probably be ,liek, the best gig ever in the history of best gigs and the whole world will claim to have been there, and then they will start the revolution...

Or not. Hmmmmm

I thought I could at least stay in and listen to Babyshambles. But oh no, they've got Kings of ***** Leon on instead. (Who are also on XFM - AT THE SAME TIME!!!!!!!!) I hate Zane Lowe. So much.

Well at least I get to see the Franz on Saturday!

I officially had the most stressful weekend, EVER!!!

Friday: My housemate phones me at work to tell my friend has moved out without telling anyone. Go home, spaz and make up elaborate conspiracy theories about why she would do such a thing. (Mostly involving landlords, heavies and rent eeek)

Saturday: Housies (who haven't paid any rent for a year!!!) start to believe conspiracy theories and decide to do a runner!! This leaves me with no choice but to follow them round looking at shithole houses cos they don't much wanna pay the rent at their new house either.

Saturday night: Got completely wasted in Lennons and temporarily forgot about lame-o housies

Sunday: Move out of house

Monday: Go to see The Departure at Lennons *falls in love*. My friend and my ex seem to be getting rather *ahem* well... (Oh dear god, it's getting awkward)

Tuesday: One of my housies moves back to halls, leaving me to look for a room with random strangers.

Great!!

Last night I went out for a few drinkies with an old best mate from school, who contacted me through Friends Reunited.

It was weird cos when we were teenagers we were so similar, we used to spaz about Blur and Elastica and The Manics and it was cool and fun.
Now I think she's matured a lot faster than me, she hasn't heard of any of the bands I like and when I told her I went to Reading, she looked horrified by the idea of mud! lol! It's strange how people change. Anyway we still found much to talk about, mostly laughing about old school teachers and the spazzos in our class.

Was good fun! :-)

So, Reading Festival. Cut cos I'll prob bore everyone to death;

Thursday

sat for four hours in traffic outside Reading (impressive since I only live 20 minutes away). Finally got there, trudged around for an eternity to find even the tiniest patch of field, eventually deciding to park up in a virtual swamp in the brown camping area pretty near the arena. Some tosser nicked half our guy ropes (which I was in sole charge of, oops).
After setting up we waded to the Fez club to see Black Wire (amazing is not even half way there), The Cribs (ditto), The Others (Dominic is such a sweetie!!) and Delays (pretty boring and they seemed to attract the whole pikey population of Reading)
Stumbled back to the tent to find the whole site had gone to bed WTF!!!!!??? Wake up biatches it's Reading!!!!!!1

Friday

I decided to lead the party to Tescos, having assured everyone I knew EXACTLY where I was going, we somehow ended up in an offsite carpark, whose only inhabitant was one steward eating his sandwiches, poor bugger, he looked mighty pissed off (as I would be!!)
Anyway found it, bought a mass of sweeties and booze, dumped it in our tent and headed off to actually watch some bands.
Pretty Girls Make Graves were distinctly average, as were The Hives. Mates dragged me to the dance arena to see !!! (who i'd only vaguely heard of) I was kinda weirded out by all the doped out pill poppers in there but !!! were very good, it was nice to see something different.
I felt really ill during SFA so sat down and listened. GLC came on half way through which was a little surreal!! Graham Coxon was a sweetie as usual!! teehee!

We were so muddy by then we just had to go change, esp after seeing all the cool stylish kids at the Fez on Thurs, didn't realise how crowded it'd be getting back then getting a taxi was a nightmare and we missed most of Babyshambles :-((
From what I saw he looked really sad and messed up. *sigh*

Saturday

Ohhh good day! Well apart from the fact we mistook the concrete jungle stage for the Radio 1 tent and spent over half an hour watching 'some shitty punk band' (as I told some girl when she asked me who they were!! oops, she looked mighty pissed off!) cos we thought Bloc Party were running late!
Sprinted over to Razorlight, was weird seeing them on such a big stage but they were pretty good, not liking blonde Johnny tho :-). New York Dolls were cool, stood through two seconds of the Roots before retiring to the grass, only to barge all their fans out of the way for the Franz, who were a bit average I thought.
And then...
THE LIBERTINES.. RAH!!!!!
Was so crushed I could hardly move but didn't care cos I was very close to squealing like a little girl, lolz!! Watched it mostly on the big screen, Carl's distraught face after nearly every song made me wanna cry so much and it was a bit flat really, Carl looked like he was struggling to get it over and done with as quickly as poss.
Carl did look beautiful though, nice to see he hasn't let himself go while his man's away!
Morrissey was a god... How Soon is Now as an opener.. just wow. Smiths songs and classic Morrissey it was perfect, he was in my top 3 for the weekend for sure. The White Stripes were great, but I was so tired and aching all over by then, I didn't really appreciate them.

Sunday

Futureheads, not as good as the album. Fiery Furnaces = snoooooozzzeee (sorry!). Kaiser Chiefs = best band I saw at the festival by 20 billion trillion miles, just amazing. speechless. wow! British Sea Power = a stage decorated like a forest, a plastic pelican and lots of kerazy peeps waving bits of twigs and trees in the air= very strange indeed!!! The Stills were class, esp when the drummer came out and did a song! lol WTF??? I think Radio 1 was giving the bands in their tent crazy pills.
The Others again, they actually inspired me to start moshing!!! The maddest crowd for sure, there was a stage invasion at the end. Von Bondies = disappointing and Supergrass was full of pikeys, but they played a blinding set a great way to end!!!

Phew, Sorry, I'm sure everyone is asleep now, anyway!

Phew .. I haven't been on here for ages!

I haven't had an internet connection at my new place, cos my housie is refusing to give me the disk for it! Biatch.

I got a 2:2 in my degree (not really disappointed or particularly overjoyed, I would have liked a 2:1)

I'm back home at the mo, working for my dad in his office. I can't get used to not being a student anymore! It sucks having to go to bed at 11:30 and then getting up at 6:45!! I think I'm in denial.

Not much else to say really, which is a bit shit since I last updated 2 weeks ago :-(.

Oh, except I got my Reading ticket and am feeling very spazzy about the whole thing!! Yay! Also, Pete is a very silly boy. (Although I have had gastroenteritis twice and it was honestly the worst illness I have ever had. I will never forget it. It's much worse than just having a bad tummy, i had to be rushed to casualty, where I was pumped full of water and given dozens of injections and pills. I was so weak, it took all my energy just to get out of bed. Of course, he may not be telling the complete truth, so who knows?)

He looked so delicate and fragile though, not in a bad way, but I just wanted to take him home and mother him, tee hee!
He put his heart and soul into it, bless 'im. He played for over an hour and a half and at one point I thought he was never gonna leave!! I was at the front most of the time and the atmosphere was amazing, everyone singing and dancing along, I couldn't have hoped to have a better time, and 10mins up the road from my house too!!

Oh and the guy from Selfish Cunt took a run at me, luckily I managed to step out of the way, that was truly freaky, lol!

So, my bday.. (Tues nt, I tried to type this 3 times and it kept buggering up, stoopid LJ)

Arrived in London at 6ish, only to discover that they'd shut Pic Circus tube cos of that bloody motor racing thingie-me-jig. So, in our wisdom, we thought we'd take a leisurely walk there from Green Park. Bad move. We were quite literally crushed by thousands of crazy hoodlums all trying to go the opposite way to us, all so they could watch a few semi-famous racers drive their cars down the road, blah.

Who decided it would be a good idea to have a bloody motor parade along some of London's biggest roads, during rush hour, effectively shutting down the whole of central London, on my birthday???????!! They need a good kicking.

Anyway eventually we found the club and wondered into Soho to <strike>gawp at the sex shops</strike> get some food.

Wondering back into Mayfair afterwards, I remembered reading that Carl lived there. Looking around I felt really sad that he could afford to live in possibly one of the poshest areas of London (think, Gucci, Saville Row, Versace in the high street!!! lol!) when Pete was rotting away in some slum in the east end, cos he's spent all his dosh on skag :-( .

Anyway, Infinity. It was tiny, and incredibly hip. When we got there a band called The Objects were playing. To my amazement, they were the cute indie boys I always swoon over in Rhinos and Nexus every week! lol! Tis a small world! I still didn't have the guts to talk to them though! They played the best music ever, about 5 libs songs including What Katie Did and Horrorshow!! Had a great night, next mission is to go on a Monday when Carlos is there!
