Functions Of the Office (In brief)
Public Relations (PR) office play an essential role in managing the institution’s reputation, communication and relationship with its diverse stakeholders including students, faculty, alumni, prospective students, government bodies and the local community. Our work is pivotal in promoting the university’s achievements, values and academic programs while ensuring a positive public perception.
- To Issue Press Release and interact with journalists (Print/ Electronics/ Online) and media agencies to secure coverage of university events, research breakthroughs, faculty achievements and student accomplishments. Writing press releases, responding to media inquiries and organizing press conferences are common tasks to ensure that the university’s narrative is consistently and accurately communicated to the public.
- Press releases can be issued based on significant decisions made by the university authorities, important announcements like exam dates, admission details, or events such as seminars, symposia and other functions including freshers’ receptions, farewells, prize/award distributions and certificate ceremonies.
- To release the University’s Annual Reports which cover academic, research and administrative activities for each academic year, along with the annual Pocket Diaries, Wall and Desk Calendars and other occasional booklets and pamphlets.
- To Publish a half-yearly news bulletin of the University in Bengali, titled GAU Barta.
- To collect and organize paper clippings featuring news, opinions and articles related to the University or education, published in major national newspapers and store them in the office.
- To have the office photographers capture images of various University events, select the significant ones for publication in newspapers and arrange coverage through electronic media.
- To carry out any additional tasks as assigned by the higher/senior authorities of the University.
- Monitoring and shaping public perception by creating positive narratives around the organization.
Morever PR office ensure that students, faculty and staff are well-informed about university’s policies, upcoming events and important initiatives. This includes creating newsletters, maintaining the university’s intranet and organizing communication channels to keep the campus community engaged and connected.
