Author Gelett Burgess (1866-1951) earned a degree from MIT then escaped west and became part of the San Francisco Bay Area literary renaissance of the 1890s as an artist, poet, author, and humorist. He was best known as a writer of nonsense verse, such as “The Purple Cow,” and for introducing French modern art to the United States in an essay titled The Wild Men of Paris. He was also the author of the popular Goops children’s books, and coined the term blurb.
Voice Actor Wulf Moon feasted on fantasy as a child when he lived with his Chippewa grandmother. He begged stories from her every night—fireside tales that fired his imagination. Author Mark Orr lives in Middle Tennessee with his wife of forty years, a couple of cats, a history degree and way too many books. On his best days, he gets to play with his grandchildren - currently four, with a fifth expected by the end of 2021. His hard-boiled supernatural mystery novels, Smarter Than the Average Werewolf and Dead Women in Love, are both available from Dark Recesses Press and through Amazon. He has recently returned to writing short stories, a form in which he had a small degree of success during the first decade or so of the current millennium. Author Chris Kuriata's stories about elderly poisoners, vengeful Aunties, and time-traveling kittens have appeared in many fine publications such as Gamut, OnSpec, and on-line at The Saturday Evening Post. He used to edit depressing documentaries about homicide victims, but now works cheerfully in a bakery making donuts.
Narrator Isaiah Plovnick is a Boston-based performing artist with a steampunk soul. Raised on a healthy diet of Lego and Great Illustrated Classics, the spirit of the retro-futurist was fostered in him at an early age. He received an education in Theatre from Salem State University, and has since been performing onstage or from behind a microphone all over the greater Boston area.

What is in that powder my brother keeps taking? A classic fright from 1895, said to have been an early influence on HP Lovecraft. Junie Ginsburg narrates. Arthur Machen was born in Wales and became enamored with mysticism and the occult at an early age. The Novel of the White Powder was part of The Three Impostors, a novel composed of a number of interwoven tales, in 1895. The novel and the stories within it were eventually to be regarded as among Machen's best works. However, following the indecency scandal surrounding Oscar Wilde later that year, Machen's association with works of decadent horror made it difficult for him to find a publisher for new works until later in his career. Publisher John Lane, wary of the atmosphere, asked Machen to censor his manuscript. Barring the omission of one word, Machen refused to comply.
