Big Updates: Purpose Scanning, New Platforms & the Road to the 26th Futures Conference
The next months are bringing an exciting shift for our work at Future Resources — and for our team itself.
We are thrilled to announce that Victória Oliveira is stepping up as CEO of Future Resources, leading the initiative into its next chapter of growth and impact.
Join us in congratulating her on all of her hard work over the past few years! ✊✊
We’re undergoing several exciting changes this month. The official Future Resources website has received a fresh update, and you can now find all our initiatives in one place. The Purpose Scanning website has also been updated and now has its own dedicated platform.
In other news, you can now book Purpose Scanning for your organization, bringing the methodology directly to your team. If you're interested, you can get in touch with us through the link on our website or by email at contact@purposescanning.com.
Feel free to explore both and share any feedback — we’d love to hear your thoughts! ❤️
Speaking of major updates, this June we’ll be traveling to the University of Turku in Finland to participate in the 26th International Futures Conference, organized by the Finland Futures Research Centre and the Finland Futures Academy — one of the most established and important gatherings dedicated to futures thinking and foresight in the world.
We will be hosting a Purpose Scanning Workshop session at the event, bringing our methodology into the conference program and opening space to explore horizon scanning through a decolonial lens, grounded in the idea of building more plural and just futures with an international community. You can find more information in their official newsletter.
Before the methodology is presented at the conference, participants in this workshop will have the chance to experience Purpose Scanning firsthand, exploring the practice just before it reaches this international stage — a truly special opportunity.
For those not yet familiar with the workshop, Purpose Scanning is our introductory experience to horizon scanning — the foresight practice of identifying weak signals, emerging patterns, and early shifts that may shape possible futures. The workshop provides a practical framework for intentionally observing change and turning signals from the present into meaningful insights about the future.
The next Portuguese cohort is approaching, starting on April 9. Registrations will close soon, so this is the next opportunity for those who prefer to explore the methodology in Portuguese.
Live sessions (online)
• April 9 — 19:00–21:00 BRT
• April 16 — 19:00–22:00 BRT
• April 30 — 19:00–21:00 BRT
Over past editions, the workshop has brought together participants from different countries and fields — including researchers, strategists, designers, entrepreneurs, and curious minds interested in understanding how to read the present to better navigate the future.
If you’ve been considering joining, now is the perfect time! ✨
If you’d like to support Future Resources, there are several ways to get involved — from joining our workshops, to making a direct contribution, or bringing Purpose Scanning into your organization. Each step helps expand our impact and advance a more inclusive, plural, and forward-looking approach to foresight.
This is all for now. Make sure to follow us on our social media channels to keep up with news, opportunities and more!
