Everyday I see so many new faces and hear so many new names. People from different times, different worlds...it's almost kind of overwhelming sometimes, and yet you learn so many new things just by having a regular conversation with someone.

But what connects us all together like this? Is it just the fact we're all stuck here? Is it really all a coincidence? Maybe that would be the most logical explanation, but there's got to be something we all share that's pulled us together like this.

The external forces that decide whether we're in the right or wrong place at this moment...it'd be awfully convenient to call it a coincidence, wouldn't it?

A strange twist of fate. That's it. I think it must be fate.

Entry 002: Things I never, ever want to forget

My name is Claude C. Kenni.

I was born January, 23rd, SD 347. That's 2433 A.D. if you go by the old calendar system.

I'm 19 years old.

My Earth Federation number is 1449-2356-8733-1292G. My rank is ensign.

I love the color red because it's very passionate and vibrant.

I had a dog named Rati when I was a kid. Dad named him that as soon as he saw his tail. He was a good friend.

My favorite food is steak. I love it cooked any way. Rare, medium-rare, or even very well-done. As long as it's meaty and beefy and steak, I'm so there.

Since we're talking about food, I think sea urchins are kind of gross. Just so you know.

My favorite genre of books is science fiction. I think it's a fun way to explore the infinite possibilities the universe holds for us. I've written a couple of books myself. Ocean of Stars and Planet of the Winds. They've been published, but good luck in finding a copy around here.

Video games are a great distraction!

I love looking at the sky. The stars are what made me want to go into space in the first place, you know. A bright, clear afternoon sky is really encouraging, too. But I think there's something a little sad about a sunset, even if it's still really beautiful.

The trumpet is my favorite instrument. I think it suits me.

My dad was a very brave man who always tried to do what he felt was right. I want to be that kind of person someday.

I accidentally wound up on Expel, but it was one of the best things that ever happened to me. Even though I was there for a short time, I came to love the planet and its people a lot. The nature is unspoiled and beautiful, and the Expellians are kind, simple folk. I think we Earthlings could learn a lot from them.

These are the people from Expel who are in Landel's with me:

Ashton Anchcors is my best friend. He used to be possessed by two dragons named Gyoro and Ururun. They were very reliable comrades. Hey, you really should keep an eye out for them! Their eyes match their names, so they're hard to miss.

My rival is Dias Flac. He's a very good swordsman, and something of a big brother to my friend Rena Lanford. I know we at least fought together on the front lines back on Expel. Will definitely watch your back if you're in a pinch, even if he likes working alone.

Leon D.S. Geeste is a good friend of mine. He's a genius capable of all sorts of things. We seem to have more than a few things in common. You could say I'm his Big Brother. : )

____

I have a feeling this list will get bigger. This covers the basics, though. Not that I'm expecting to wake up with amnesia, but you never know what kinds of things you might forget, because then those memories are already gone, and you can never get them back. Or even realize they're gone in the first place.

There is nothing sweeter than a reunion between friends. Even if the separation goes unnoticed by the human consciousness, a person's deepest soul will always be aware of the distance from a loved one.

It's true that some things between two friends may change. That's as natural as the laws governing time and space. But even as we grow older and endure our own, separate lives, our hearts always remember one another, and its those fond thoughts and feelings that weave an endless tapestry capable of stretching across the universe itself.
