Use Fromage as your guide to worldwide cheeses, the #1 app preferred by cheese lovers. Fromage provides a convenient pocket resource of fantastic cheeses made throughout the world for your culinary exploration. The cheese library contains well beyond 1,600 world cheeses from over 35 countries and is continuously expanded thanks to suggestions from our established base of Fromage users worldwide. Each cheese entry features artistically presented cheese photos, historically narrated flavor descriptions, website links to the producer’s dairy or fromager, and suggested best choices for complementary wines. You can add your own favorite cheeses to the standard library and include personal notes about any of the cheeses. Searching within the library for that special cheese can be by name, country, milk-type, texture, or by your own custom tags (such as #atmystore). So, if you’re a classically trained chef, professional party planner, cheese buyer, or just plain cheese lover, grab Fromage, your favorite wine, and experience the wonderful and historic flavors of cheese. _________________________________ Fromage comes with the ability to create personal cheese notes, rate cheeses from 1 to 5 stars (included an “Avoid” rating), add cheeses to your favorite lists (Try, Buy, or Favorites categories), record tasting impressions with up to 70 tasting keywords, and search the cheese library. You can also enter your own cheeses (including photos captured from your device camera) and list those cheeses automatically in the “My Additions” category. There is also a “Share” feature so cheese information can be sent (via e-mail) to friends or to the developer for inclusion in future versions of Fromage. _________________________________ Internet or Wi-Fi connection is not required for program use, which is great for remote locations when no data plan is available. When internet is available, Fromage uses iCloud to synchronize your cheese entries and notes between all of your Apple devices which can include iPhone, iPad, and Macintosh. The application provides English, French, Spanish, and German languages when the iOS device settings are set to that language. _________________________________ From the Developer - Hello my name is Steve Welch and I want to thank you for your interest in Fromage. I have enjoyed developing Fromage and bringing great cheeses into your kitchen. It is hard to believe this app began nearly 15 years ago with only a handful of French cheeses a short time after the “new” iPhone was introduced to the world. Fromage quickly became a favorite and best seller in the “Food and Drink” category and the first “Cheese” app available in the app store. I also wanted to share that I was once a cheese maker myself, although it was some time ago. During the late ‘70’s, I worked summers at being a cheese maker at Rogue Valley Creamery in Oregon USA. Tom Vella was the owner and I made all sorts of cheeses including their vintage artisan Cheddar and Blue cheese’s. It was through this experience and the iPhone platform opportunities that led me to developing Fromage. Bon Appétit

Version History The 2022-23 World Cheese Awards held in Wales exhibited many outstanding cheeses. This version of Fromage recognizes the SuperGold winners with the addition of new cheeses from the Wales event along with new cheeses submitted by our worldwide base of Fromage users. Many thanks to our contributors and to the Guild of Fine Food and others for sponsoring the World Cheese Awards. 11.0 02/02/2023 The 2021-22 World Cheese Awards held in Oviedo Spain exhibited many outstanding cheeses. This version of Fromage adds 370 cheeses selected from producers winning SuperGold and Gold awards and originating from the countries of Australia, Austria, Belgium, France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Netherlands, Portugal, Hungary, United Kingdom, the United States, and others. And, because producers are a valuable source of additional cheese information, Fromage now provides website links directly to the dairy or fromager when available. Application improvements to the search for cheeses has been improved and extended to include the use of tags within the cheese description or within your personal notes. You can create and use tags (such as #mybestcheeses or #atmystore) within your notes to customize your search experience. Finally, improvements were made to the application for Dark Mode and for minor bug fixes. 10.4 12/24/2021 Improved dark mode. Now supports Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. 10.3 11/19/2020 Minor bug fix. Otherwise for v10.2 - New cheeses were added with particular focus on cheeses from the Savoie France region. Improvements were made with the search function to consider the region, texture and milk-type information. A feature was added to move to the next or previous cheese within the list of cheeses while displaying a single cheese. A bug that prevented timely iCloud syncing of notes or cheeses and syncing between devices was fixed. 10.2.1 10/01/2019 New cheeses were added with particular focus on cheeses from the Savoie France region. Ensured compatibility with new iPhone hardware models. 10.1 10/15/2018 Over 150 cheeses were added to the cheese library bringing the total to well beyond 1,100 world cheese entries. The app was modified for improved compatibility with the iPhone X. A feature to "hide" a cheese note was added to allow Fromage users to remove (i.e., to not list) those cheeses in their "Favorites" category. 10.0 11/27/2017 A minor bug fix for version 9.5 with version 9.0 adding over 100 cheeses mostly from the Vermont USA region. Corrected a bug when sharing a cheese. 5.1 04/29/2012 Corrected issues to be compatible with iOS 5 5 10/21/2011 Fromage is now a universal app for the iPhone and iPad and supports multi-tasking and file sharing (for backup of your personal cheese entries and syncing between your devices). Multi-languages are now supported and this release includes French, Spanish, and German languages.
