"Christ, this is so stupid." Soul rolled his eyes for what had to be the ninth time since they'd left the apartment. Vespa hadn't stopped complaining from the moment she'd hung up with the school and subsequently started walking to the school. It was a warm enough day, especially for late autumn, and the school wasn't terribly far from their apartment building.

"Complaining isn't going to make it go away, Vespa." He slowed his pace to let his girlfriend and her scuffing feet catch up. "You're whining more about it than Connie and the conference is about her." He glanced down at the small girl gripping his hand, their six-year old daughter Connie. She was a skinny little thing, a clear mixture of both her parents' unusual traits. From light gray hair pulled into pigtails then stuffed under a knitted grey and blue beanie to her large, thick-lashed eyes the same shade of red as her father's and most certainly her sharp, shark-like teeth, almost anyone in Siren's Port could guess her parentage without a second thought.

Connie had been uncharacteristically quiet since they left, eyes downcast and her cheeks puffed in sulking silence. The child was obviously not looking forward to spending her Saturday at a parent-teacher conference when she could be watching her cartoons.
When Vespa finally caught up with them her hand instantly navigated to hold Connie's free one. One of heavy plastic bracelets that adorned her wrist slid over the young girl's hand, coming to a stop at her elbow.

"I know that, Soul." She snapped, picking up her pace if only to get there faster to get this over with. "I just think it's bullshit we're being called in at all. Connie is an awesome kid! She does the work sheets her teachers send home, she doesn't get into fights, she can color inside the lines- what the fuck would they be calling us in for?!" The half-selkie growled in frustration and raked a hand through her hair- it getting longer. She'd need a haircut soon lest the resemblance to her mother start to become more apparent.

Again, Soul rolled his eyes. "I'm not happy about it either. We'll go, find out what her teacher wants to tell us then go to the Underground Mall for lunch or something." He looked down at his daughter to flash her a grin. "What do you say, Concake? You wanna go to the mall later?"

Connie glanced up at him, his face still a mask of annoyance. "I want shrimp sandwiches." Her father glanced at Vespa, shooting her a half-smile, implying 'She gets it from you'. Vespa's sour mood seemed to dissipate at Connie's suggestion and she grinned, arching an eyebrow at Soul. Shut up, you love us.

"You heard the girl, Soul. Shrimp sandwiches all around!"

"Tch. You girls and your weird foods." There was a brief pause as mother and daughter exchanged looks.

"Vespa-"

"Connie-"

"CHOP!"

"GAH!" Soul stumbled, reeling from the simultaneous karate chops delivered to both his knee and the side of his head. His girlfriend and daughter had clearly been practicing their own versions of the much-feared 'Maka Chop' and they were highly effective for not being administered with a heavy book.

Next time a babysitter was needed, Maka was the last person he called.

The first night was the worst. He and Dean had spent it in a motel on the outskirts of Stanford. It was nicer than most of the places they'd stayed in growing up and the room came with a complimentary breakfast, as Dean pointed out with a meager grin. Sam weakly nodded and waited in the Impala while his brother checked them in.

They didn't speak on the way to the room. Just heavy, awkward silence. After all, what was there to talk about? Jess was dead, their father was still missing and all they had to go on was his journal. How very helpful.

Sam was down the moment he made it into the room. Simply dropped his bag and collapsed onto one of the twin beds, the reek of dust, ash and singed hair still clinging to his clothes. The younger Winchester buried his face in the cold, unfamiliar pillow and tried to block out everything; Dean raiding the mini fridge, the creek of the bed springs under his own weight, even the thoughts tumbling around in his head.

Despite his best efforts, sleep continued to elude him. He'd been spoiled by his "normal" life. No prowling through graveyards at two in the morning, no sleeping in the backseat of the car, sleeping with a .45 under his pillow or having to stitch up wounds with a needle, thread and a bottle of whatever alcohol happened to be on hand. The worst thing he had to worry about was sleeping in and missing class because Jess-

Goddamn it. Jess.

His arms tightened around his pillow. At the moment that's what he missed the most, having a warm, familiar body next to him. He could almost feel her, like a phantom limb. Her arms around his waist, cheek resting on the back of his shoulder and her chest pressed snugly against his back as her heart softly thumped behind her ribs.
Thump. Thump. Thump.

Sam was almost tempted to roll over, just to check on the vague, irrational hope that maybe she really was there. But he only closed his eyes tighter. It was only his own heartbeat, slow and steady. Not Jess's.

Not anymore.

I have accomplished shit today. Got Veser a paid account, need 61 more icons for him. ._x He's starting to gain a little CR at SP, which is yay. And he's bugging Yazoo which is even more yay.

Need to catch up on a few Eva tags at Cydonia and do Bitty Road's at DGMDR. Eva has been mothering Castiel and it's so darn cute. ;3; She made him tea and now she's trying to get him to go to bed because he's sick. They're so adorable dkgjkfgvg.

I'VE BEEN TRYING TO UPLOAD A MOOD THEME TOO. But it's not working, boo. I spent, like, an hour doing the coding and how it's not working, B| Fail.

Sooo Valentine's Day is coming up and this weekend I have a dinner theater to do. I'm still learning my lines but I get to dress like a tramp and waitress all night. : D Fun! In non-RP news, I went to lunch with a friend I haven't seen in over a year yesterday since she's been in Florida. We had a lovely time eating Chinese food and yakked for hours. She's going back to Florida soon and she's trying to convince me to go down and work with her. Did I mentioned she worked at Disney? Yeah, that's kind of important. Since Jessyca is going to be going away to school soon and she's my only real friend around here, I'm kind of considering it.

Valentines Day is coming up. It's going to be my first one being single is a very long time and I'm a little bummed out about it. BUT I'm making plans with Jessyca to go to Applebees so hopefully that'll be a good time. c: And I applied at Wal-Mart, so let's see if I get a call.

ALSO I'M PLANNING ON GOING TO CONNECTICON. And maybe Anime Boston if I can afford it. If I do end up going to C-con I'll be staying with k3llyb3an since she's my favorite whore and lives 45 minutes from the convention center. :D We will make pasta and eat whipped cream and do crazy con shit. I should try to get her to reserve a table at the con so she can sell her sextastic art.

I actually wanted to post this last night but...extenuation circumstances.

I came up with two new characters for my novel while in Kentucky and I'm stupidly excited. I'm actually considering making RP accounts for them ~~partly to distract myself from my angst~~.

Melissa "Missy" Fortune

-Demi-goddess of bad luck (very, very demi but basically human)
-Age 19
-Half-Uruguayan on her mother's side
-College student at Penn State.
-Resides in a dorm room but usually only goes there to sleep (sometimes)
-Mythology/Literature major.
-Has held 16 jobs in the past 2 years. Was fired from all of them.
-Has no real control over her "power", she mostly unwittingly effects the chance of something going wrong in the room just by being there.
-Very quiet and meek around new people but rather sharp-tongued and snarky once she opens up.
-Loathes her name. She believes it was her parents misguided effort at being clever.
-Lesbian, currently in a relationship with Lucky Yu.
-Frequently spends time at Lucky's apartment, mostly to steal her food.
-More often than not very grumpy around her girlfriend, complaining about her flirtatiousness.
-She does adore her though, even if she is quite tsundere about it
-Can see Reapers even when they're invisible to normal humans and angels' wings.
-Not very fond of Calem, has snark battles with him whenever he crashes at Lucky's place.
-Terrified of the monstrosities Gabi tends to create in the kitchen.
-Indifferent to Francis, thinks he/she has decent taste in TV shows though.

-Works from home as a programmer by day and tends bar at night.
-Only works to keep herself from getting bored, her parents are pretty loaded.
-Has powers similar to Missy, except she effects the odds of good things happening.
-More amused by her punny name than Missy.
-Loud, giggly and outgoing, quite flirty.
-Lesbian, in a relationship with Missy Fortune.
-Constantly teases her about her grumpiness and the fact she's always stealing her food.
-On good terms with Calem, even going so far as to let him crash on her sofa when he's in town.
-Thinks Gabi is adorable and wants to keep her forever.
-Not quite sure what to make of Francis, with the other being a demon and all.

STUPID ADORABLE NANO CHARACTERS

Okay so...I'm doing NaNoWrimo this year. I also made a few RP accounts for some of my characters from my novel but more on that later.

I was brainstorming today and Francis, my gender-switching Hell escapee demon, decided he/she wants to hook up with Gabriella, my perky, naive angel who still gets freaked out by automatic toilets. They have some really interesting chemistry and I confess I do kind of super ship them (especially with Francis as a woman) but there are a few drawbacks to the relationship.

Gabriella muse was kind enough to wibble them to me here (if anyone wants to go make her stop crying, it would be much appreciated) and pretty much make me feel like I'm setting her up to be raped or making her watch a puppy die or something. D: Now I feel bad.

But I'm likely still going to to through with it because the potential is too fantastic. I'm not sure how to feel about this.

It's been a whole year since Shannon died. It still feels so weird. Every time I check my f-list some part of me still expects to see a post from her or see her MSN light up.

It's gotten better over the past few months but I still miss her terribly and there are still things I can't do or look at without tearing up or straight up crying. I haven't watched Advent Children: Complete, I can't bring myself to look at her journal yet and the song "Lollipop" makes me wibble, silly as it sounds. Whenever I see a Joker account floating around my first thought is always about how well Shannon played him.

But I resurrected my Grell and Ginko muses not long ago, with a new accounts. dothprotestmuch comelilchilluns . I'd forgotten how fun those crazy bitches were and it feels really good to be back to playing the two characters Shannon loved so much. I can listen to the recording of her laugh and "I can has porn?"s and smile because those bring back wonderful memories of that insane summer day we abused the microphones on our computers and recorded silly soundbytes about Shannon being a lolcat and Ashido's penis and vocal keysmashes.

I love you, Shanny, and I miss you and it still hurts to be without you. And I love all of you guys. &hearts; You darlings wouldn't be on my list if I didn't.
