Moving journal

I have been a member of LiveJournal for a long time now (November 20th would have been my seventh anniversary with LiveJournal). Years ago LiveJournal decided to start putting ads on journals of non-paying members. I understood it because they have to pay for everything somehow. However, today, for the first time in a long, long time, I logged out of my LiveJournal and viewed it as a non-member; I wanted to see what visitors to my web-site (flyingpurplehippos.com) saw when they viewed my journal. You know what visitors to my journal were NOT seeing? My journal. I didn't realize until today how intrusive the ads on LiveJournal are. What I saw instead of my journal was an ad floating across the screen that completely blocked out my journal, and required viewers to look at the ad for a required amount of time before they could even view my journal. I have been considering moving my journal for some time, and this was what I needed to convince me.

This is the perfect time for a journal move since I am currently working on a redesign of my website, and hoping to add more things to my journal that interest others (tutorials, recipes, etc.). My only concern is that I'll lose touch with some of the people who have read my journal on LiveJournal for years. I hope that doesn't happen, but I really think the move is worth it.

Hope to see you all over at Blogger (which not only does not require ads for free accounts, but allows you the option to add ads to your blog and share in the profits). Blogger allows comments using OpenID, so, you can comment using your Twitter, Facebook, Google, Yahoo, etc. screen name if you don't want to create a Blogger account.

Those interested in seeing the final images from my Day of the Dead/Sylvia Ji inspired shoot can expect to see those posted (on my new journal) within the next couple weeks.
