Makoto Cloth Corps’ Ritualist (TSR-007)
Question: If an automatic ability of an entity with [Untouchable] is in the chase area, but before it can be resolved that entity is destroyed or loses [Untouchable], can that automatic ability now be targeted or canceled?
Answer: No, it still has [Untouchable]. Once an activate or automatic ability is added to the chase, it exists independently from its source and has all relevant information locked in. Removing or modifying the source in any way will not change anything already added to the chase.
Question: Can the <Strong Beliefs> ability of this card affect the will abilities of magic stones?
Answer: No. The new rule 907.7. prevents increasing the cost of playing will abilities, and as <Strong Beliefs> adds a cost to activate abilities, it doesn’t affect the will abilities. We have made this update to reduce the amount of text needed to explain abilities on cards. For more information, please check the CR update next Friday, with the set release.
Om So Hum (TSR-011)
Question: When I resolve any of the Martial Art spells, if my J/rulers have more instances of «Mantra» than the ones specified on the spell, do I resolve the effects after the “then”?
Answer: No. If a sentence of effect text starts with a condition, the entire sentence will only happen if that condition is fulfilled when you try to resolve it, no matter how many different actions are listed in that sentence. Sentences are usually independent of each other, unless a condition check like “if you do” is used. In that case that sentence will only happen if all actions of the previous sentence were performed. So, in the case of this chant, the effect text is one sentence starting with a condition, so if the condition is not fulfilled, none of the actions listed in that effect will be performed.
Alchemics 103 (TSR-033)
Question: Do I have to reveal exactly four cards while resolving Alchemics 103, or can I reveal less cards?
Answer: You can reveal zero, one, two, three or four cards while resolving Alchemics 103, if they have the appropriate attributes. It is a mandatory effect instructing you do to something (rule 104.2), thus you do as much as you legally can. But in the new CR the “fail to find” ruler of CR 1014.2. was extended to not only apply to “choosing” or “searching”, but also to “looking & revealing”. So if only you have access to the information of the cards you reveal when resolving Alchemics 103, but your opponent does not, then you can fail to find any of these cards, even though that part of the effect is mandatory.
Student Detective League’s Companions (TSR-040)
Question: Will <Crime Scene> trigger if a spell I control is canceled or returned to my hand with the activate abilities of Geryon or Persephone, the Eleventh Olympian?
Answer: No, it won’t trigger. This will only trigger when a spell you control is canceled or returned to your hand by a spell your opponent controls or by an ability of a wind card your opponent controls, and “card” without specifying a zone means that the source of the ability has to be in the field or the ruler area. If we wanted this card to be more powerful, we would have given it a rarity higher than "N".
Student Detective League’s Elected Member (TSR-041)
Question: If this card is revealed in the deck and later during the same turn it is moved to another zone, does it retain the abilities it gained from its automatic ability?
Answer: Depends. If this card moves to a hidden zone, it loses all abilities that were gained while being revealed in the deck. If this card moves to a public zone, it retains the abilities that were gained while being revealed in the deck until end of turn.
Goliath HANADA (TSR-048) & Ark, Lord of Solaris (JRP-082)
Question: When any of these cards banishes all will coins, do they banish the will coins controlled by other players, or only my will coins?
Answer: They only banish your will coins, as you can only banish cards and tokens you control.
HANADA Corps’ CEO’s Skyscraper (TSR-055)
Question: This card says “«Build» - Cards with CEO in their name gain “Whenever this card is targeted by a spell or ability >>> Cancel that spell or ability.” in all zones. Does this apply on the chase?
Answer: Yes, as the chase is a zone and “spells” are still considered “cards”, even in the chase area (rule 312.3. and rule 903.2.).
Robo Maeda, Peak of Technology (TSR-059)
Question: Can I activate the first ability of Robo Maeda two times and then activate the third ability or should I activate the first ability, then the second and later the third?
Answer: You can activate each ability any number of times, as long as you pay for it. Robo Maeda will gain the text of each activate ability and its ATK/DEF will become the corresponding ones of the last ability you activate as long as it has enough power counter on it. And, yes, if you have more than two counters it still counts as it having one and/or two counters.
From now on, we are removing the words “more than” from abilities like this one to simplify the texts. So, from now on, if a card specifies that needs you to have a “(number)” of anything, unless it says “exactly (number)” or “the combined number is (number)”, it will be fulfilled if you have that “(number) or more” of the amount needed.
Wu Xiaohu, Hard Worker in Powersuit (TSR-060)
Question: The [Mastery] ability of Wu Xiaohu mentions the non-attribute ruler Wu Xiaohu, Trained Tiny Tiger of Thoth of the Trinity and two cards whose name is (AAA). Is this correct, or should it be two cards whose race is "AAA"?
Answer: Yes, it is correct. This card mentions cards whose name is (AAA), which are not released yet. Wu Xiaohu will continue traveling with Lucie and Lyka while they search for Helen and the “Remnants of the Rune” during the Trinity Cluster story, and this won't be the last time we see members of Agents Against Arcana in this cluster. Our development team works with both a forward-looking and a backward-looking perspective, and everything they do is intentional.
Question: I have another question regarding Wu Xiaohu.
Answer: No, he is not a cat. At least, that’s what he keeps saying.
Academy City’s Expert Therapist (TSR-061)
Question: If there is an Academy City’s Expert Therapist on the field, can I banish a Clue to pay the activation cost of Morginna, Brave Journalist?
Answer: Yes, you can. The continuous ability of Academy City’s Expert Therapist doesn’t remove the race of neither Gems, Crystals or Clues, as neither Gem, Crystal or Clue are races.
Question: Cards unrevealed in sideboard lose their races if there is an Academy City’s Expert Therapist on the field?
Answer: “Area” is a new wording that means “All zones and outside the game.”. So, yes, as the sideboard is not a zone but it is an area, all cards in the sideboard lose their races if there is an Academy City’s Expert Therapist on the field.
Aideen, the Fighting Doctor (TSR-063)
Question: If I play a chant that has [Torrent] but it is the first spell I play this turn, do I put a resonator token with Aideen’s automatic ability?
Answer: Yes, you do. The ability checks if the chant played has [Torrent], regardless of whether you have achieved [Torrent] or not.
Lunar Royal Guard of the Crescent Moon (TSR-079)
Question: Can I pay the cost of the <Lunar Duty> ability of this card using moon will produced by “Illusory Demonic Globe, The Earth” (TMS-093)?
Answer: No, as the moon will produced by “Illusory Demonic Globe, The Earth” can be spent only to play activate abilities of J/resonators, and as the regalia is not checking or specifying the zone where the J/resonator with the activate ability should be, it is referring to the field or a ruler area (rule 307.4a.), but not a graveyard.
Mina Harker, Heroic Vampire Huntress (TSR-097)
Question: The <Hunting the Dark> ability of this card gives [Quickcast] to this card in all zones (it has an errata), but it loses the ability and gains <Vampiric Thirst> if my J/ruler has “Alucard” or “Dracula” in its name. Can I play it with [Quickcast] if my J/ruler has “Alucard” or “Dracula” in its name?
Answer: Yes! As it gains <Vampiric Thirst> as long as it is in the field, you can play it with [Quickcast] even if your J/ ruler has “Alucard” or “Dracula” in its name.
Battle at the Sacred Ruins: HANADA Group (TSR-089)
Question: If I play a resonator card as though it had [Quickcast] during my opponent’s turn, do I have to pay an additional [2]?
Answer: As long as that resonator doesn’t have the printed ability [Quickcast], no.
Accursed Ice Shards (TSR-086), Broken Mask of the Crusader (TSR-086), Star Scale of the Sacred Dragon (TSR-087)
Question: These cards have a “At the beginning of the game” trigger that cancels each other ability their controller has on the chase, but these cards also have [Untouchable], so that means that a player can put, as example, three “Broken Mask of the Crusader” on the field at the beginning of the game. Is that correct?
Answer: It was correct but we have updated the “At the beginning of the game” triggers in the CR update of “The Battle at the Sacred Ruins”. From now on, only one “At the beginning of the game” triggers per card name and per player, meaning that even if a player has three “Broken Mask of the Crusader” on their starting hand, only one will trigger and only one will be put into the field as the ability resolves. But a player can put one Accursed Ice Shards”, one “Broken Mask of the Crusader” and one “Star Scale of the Sacred Dragon” on the field at the beginning of the game if that player has those three cards in their hand and decides to trigger their “at the beginning of the game” automatic abilities, as they have different names. That’s not the only update we have made to the “At the beginning of the game” triggers in the CR update of “The Battle at the Sacred Ruins”. From more information, please check the CR update next Friday, with the set release.
Question: Are these cards related to the Lapis Cluster? They mention the three first sets of the Lapis Cluster in their God’s Art abilities or their flavour text!
Answer: Yes, they are related to the Lapis Cluster. The world of Protopaterpolis (the world of the Trinity Cluster) is related to the world of the Lapis Cluster... somehow. The palace of light, the nation of dark magics, the secluded village, the book of light... all these names resonate throughout Protopaterpolis, although few know what they mean. You will discover much more about these echoes of the new world very, very soon.
Heirs of the Fairy Tale (TSR-100)
Question: This card mentions J-rulers with "Millium", "Lumia", "Aimul", "Aristella" or "Dexia" in their name, but there is no J-ruler with "Aristella" or "Dexia" in their name.
Answer: As we have said earlier in this article, our development team works with both a forward-looking and a backward-looking perspective, and everything they do is intentional (even the pun of the previous question was intended). The King of the Twelve Sacred Knights and his brother will become new Rulers/J-rulers this year, and those will be the cards that “Heirs of the Fairy Tale” mentions: Grimm's great-great-grandchildren.
And maybe, just maybe, other descendants of popular characters may appear in the future, such as, for example, descendants of the Six Sages. Only time will tell.
