| Role | Shield | Spotting |
|---|---|---|
| Traitors | Metashield on stealthy items. Items from the stealth and implants (once implanted, not the implanter) uplink categories are metashielded. Security are not allowed to “check” these unless they have witnessed the use of the suspicious item before. Obvious items like bombs, suspicious beacons, power sinks, or emags are not metashielded. Searching of PDAs is permitted but uplinks are metashielded unless an uplink has been incidentally found unlocked or a traitor informs you of their existence. | Non-stealthy traitor items, an unlocked uplink |
| Changeling | No metashield when spotted. | Visually obvious changeling abilities, such as an armblade or transforming in public view |
| Revolution | No metashield when spotted. | Situations such as wide-scale flashing, mass riots, or a combination of the two are not sufficient evidence to "spot" revolutionaries. It is however sufficient to order mindshields, and the successful deconversion of a revolutionary, failure to mindshield or sighting of a syndicate flash is sufficient to spot |
| Blood Cult | No metashield when spotted. The AI cannot spot the cult just for seeing runes, other suspicious matters have to be detected. Security cannot spot a cult unless they confirm that the runes are not crayon. Security cannot metagame fake runes initially until an actual cult is spotted. | Blood runes, cult dagger, cult structures, Central Command announcements about the cult, red eyes, halos, usage of spells heard or witnessed |
| Clockwork Cult | No metashield when spotted. | Clockwork slabs, clockworks structures, Central Command announcements about the cult, glowing outline, usage of spells heard or witnessed. |
| Gangs | No metashield when spotted. Tags, crayons, & sprays are metashielded. Pens are metashielded until seen flashing. | Mobs of people attacking each other and/or security/command staff are not sufficient for spotting gangs. It is however sufficient to order mindshields, and the successful deconversion of a gang member or failure to mindshield is sufficient to spot. Gang specific items, such as the dominator, and central command announcements are also spotting. |
| Nuclear Operatives | No metashield when spotted. | Empty |
| Wizard | No metashield. | Empty |
| Blob | No metashield. | Empty |
| Nightmare | No metashield when spotted. Broken lights metashielded. | Seeing the nightmare |
| Darkspawn | Broken lights and APCs metashielded. Pre-divulge abilities (armblade, tendril, staff/eye cams) are metashielded (they can be toys). | Seeing a fully divulged Darkspawn. |
| Malfunctioning AI | Metashield on broken APCs until it is blatant that the AI is hacking them. | Blatantly breaking their laws in large or obvious ways, such as plasma flooding, shocking doors, or killing people is sufficient evidence to card an AI to check for subversion and/or malfunction, or to kill the AI if checking is not reasonable. Failure to obey orders when their lawset does not require it, slow response times, and accidental minor law breaks are not sufficient evidence for spotting. |
| Vampire | No metashield when spotted. | Blatant and obvious vampire abilties/features (deathly pale, invisiblity, hypnotism, blood sucking, etc.) |
| Bloodsucker | No metashield when spotted | Obvious bloodsucker abilities/features. Being near or in a coffin is not enough to spot a bloodsucker |
Until an antagonist is spotted, you may not metagame their items or abilities in order to powergame your way through detecting them before they make a mistake.
