Hi!

I just got two new fixtures and I got some problems understanding how to properly program them with the ADJ LINK controller.

The fixtures I got are Clay Paky SharBars. They have six individually controllable RGBW pixels and tilt of the whole bar. In addition to this each of the pixels are made up of LEDs and mirrors that move so I have individual pan control of each of the pixels.

The pan is where I encounter a bit of issues. Normally on a moving head I have like pan/pan fine and tilt/tilt fine control and that works perfect. If I have multiple movers I can fan them out, use the effects generator to have them move synchronously or asynchronously so in my mind I thought it would work basically the same with my SharBars since they are more or less like six separate tiny moving heads. However this is not the case! Any time I use the effects generator, the jog wheels or the pan/tilt control in the upper right corner ONLY the tilt is moving! The pan is not reacting whatsoever. If I use the channel faders I can move the pan mirrors without any issues but if I try making anything like a side-to-side sweeping motion the pan is not reacting at all.

I have tried using the MyDMX 3.0 also and it behaves similarly, except the effects using pan affects mirror 1 but not the remaining 5 of them.

Does anyone have any advice on what this could be or how I should go about programming such a fixture? Thanks a lot in advance guys! (DMX chart attached for reference if that helps)

Hi, since its a multi part fixture it can seem a little tricky but, you have several options.
You can keep it as is and address the pans using the individual channel controls. For moving effects you will have to use the “Basic” effects editor that lets you run waveforms on individual channels.
If you want you can treat it like six separate fixtures, but you will have to patch it that way. Sometimes it just works better to treat each pixel as a separate fixture.

Hi,
Yeah that makes sense, I understand what you mean.

Do you happen to know if it’s the same in the MyDMX 3.0 software as well? As I mentioned I tried there too and when using the effects generator only the first mirror is moving and not the other 5.

Is it the same or is it possible to create anything like what I was talking about in MyDMX instead?
