Submasters

Just watched the video Mike Turner posted about using submasters linked to specific scenes. I tried to follow the steps in the video, but I find whenever I leave the submaster page, and go back to a scene page, the submasters cease working. They only appear to work when the submaster page is active, and cease whenever in another page (fixture, scene, etc.) What am I missing? I confirmed that I have version 1.9 running
