ParticipantHi, I am having issues with what I believe might be a site caching issue. When I make changes and save/publish, the live site is not updating. Here is some additional info and some steps I tried to resolve the problem:
The new site is being built on the live site, but in a folder (https://pianomoversinc.com/piano-movers/ so the old site will remain live while building the new site.
I am using a deprecated version of php (7.2) because there is an old quote form that will not run on the newer versions. I switched it to 8.4 but the problem remained.
There was initially a caching plugin installed with WordPress, I deleted it, deleted browser cache, and loaded on a different device for good measure, but the problem remained.
I checked the server to be sure there was no caching software, none found.
I removed WordPress and the Weaver Xtreme theme and reinstalled both, but the problem remained.
I Installed 4 other themes to test and didn’t have this issues on any of them.
I am not new to Weaver, I used it on 5 other websites on the same server but those sites work fine.
Any help or guidance would be great! TIA

ModeratorSo are you saying that no matter what setting you change, the result will never show up on the live site.
If so, have you tried making the setting changes only in customizer, or also in the legacy admin?
And review all the various possible issues in the article below
Settings Won’t Save from Customizer – Weaver Xtreme Guide

ParticipantThank you! I did not try the Legacy Admin, only the customizer. But I just tried it and was getting max_input_vars errors. It was set to 1000, I changed it to 2000 but that didn’t do anything. I kept raising it but no matter how much I raised it, it didn’t seem to matter. Right now its crazy high and still getting the error.
I will read through the article you posted and check everything in there later today or tomorrow. Current warning below:

<h3>WARNING – Your current settings have NOT been saved!
Your previous settings are unchanged.</h3>
Your host seems to be configured to limit how many input form options you are allowed to use with PHP. This is usually controlled by the PHP max_input_vars configuration setting. The current value of 26000 is too small for your current WordPress and Weaver Xtreme installation. It should be increased to 27000 . Until you increase the value, you cannot save your Weaver Xtreme settings using the Legacy Interface. The Customizer will still work, as will the options on the Save/Restore tab. Your site is still functional. For help on how to increase the max_input_vars PHP setting, please click to see the Host Configuration: PHP max_input_vars article on the Weaver Xtreme guide site.
PLEASE USE THE BROWSER BACK BUTTON TO RETURN TO WP ADMIN.

ModeratorPost here your “system and configuration info” from the “Theme help” page of the legacy admin, so we can see all the parameters (versions, memory, variables etc….)
I assume you have tried deactivating ALL non weaver plugin to determine if one of them is causing trouble
The message itself may be linked to the PHP version as reported below

ModeratorThe only thing I see lower on yours (apart from PHP) are
- Post max size, you have 16M, I have 516M
- Upload Max, you have 6M, I have 512M
- Time limit, you have 30, I have 60
So I would start by upping your values to that and test again
Once done, can you clarify the below
- In the customizer, does changing a setting show up in the live preview
- In the customizer and in the legacy admin, If you change a setting, Save / publish it, go out, then come back, is the setting still changed, or did it revert back to the previous value.

ParticipantOk, I made the changes but getting the same error after saving in legacy.
When I first started working in Customizer I was seeing the live preview change as I made the changes, but that has now changed and no changes are showing there either.
When using Legacy I can make a change and save it, I get that error but the changes I made are being saved and do no switch back to the previous value.
Here are my current settings:

ModeratorI assume you asked your ISP to investigate why changes made on WordPress are not showing up on the live site.
You may have wrongly configured the site in the sub folder on the server side…..
At this point @weaver would be needed for more suggestion of what could prevent the settings changes to produce any results on the live site

ParticipantI manage the server on my end so usually these types of things are not handled by support for the server itself. I can check though.
I went into the file manager and deleted the entire folder and started over but the problem remained.

Moderator@Matt Goodwin
The only differences I can see between what you have now and mine is the: WP Memory Limit: 40M
I am using: WP Memory Limit: 1024M
I upgraded this recently….
All you other settings are the same or much larger than mine.
Perhaps give that a try?
Regards.

ParticipantI increased WP Memory Limit to 1024 but unfortunately the issue remains.

ModeratorI am sure you did, but you checked that the pages visibility status is published AND public.
Have you tried accessing the site from different devices / computers?
After making a change and saving it in the legacy admin have you tried to access the no cache URL
https://pianomoversinc.com/piano-movers/?no-cache123
And have you tested switching to a standard WordPress theme.
If the later does not resolve the issue then I can only think of a system configuration problem, and the WordPress forum or an AI may help bring some ideas until @weaver can chime in

ParticipantHi,
I found the issue. It seems to be only in the “Ahead” subtheme. I switched it to the Ajax subtheme and everything works fine.
Thank you for all your help with this. I really appreciate it!
To answer your questions from your last post in case it helps anyone else:
Page visibility is set to “Public” and status is set to “Published” – I just double checked this as well.
I accessed the site from a few different devices, all not showing the updates.
I installed and tested multiple other themes and they are all updating fine.

ModeratorThanks for the feedback, now @weaver can check what in the Ahead subtheme is causing it not to allow settings to be reflected in the live site.
It also means that if you had tried a default WordPress theme, then the issue would have not occurred.

KeymasterFor me, this is an issue caused by your host, or even CloudFlare caching. Doesn’t seem to affect new posts like on thie forum, but changes to pages often wou’t show up for some random time. I think CloudFlare has settings ot clear you cache, and WP Cache plugins can also be flushed/disabled. It is likely not a theme issue – but if you are chsnging settings, they might be hard to force through while any caching is going on.
