@Snyggis-0 we already have users running hot ends with AC heaters driven by zero-crossing SSRs. We suggest reducing the PWM frequency to about 10Hz, the same as we suggest for AC bed heaters. Our standard PID cycle runs as 4Hz so there is no problem with doing this. There would only be a problem if the hot end has an extremely low thermal mass and hence a dead time below 1 second.

Not sure if this is a good idea - but decided to make the following changes to the printer in order to avoid the layer shift issue - should it re-occur causing head clashes.

I am going to double up the Y&V end stops - so that they trigger in either direction, plus add an extra X end stop to the other side of the toolheads - will just add a 2nd switch to the Y&V end stops wired up in parallel.

Change every end stop once homing is complete to trigger emergency stop - using the following macro.

I suppose I could also use stall detection - but I have had trouble with making that work from 3.6 onwards on mainboards used as toolboards.

It should be okay to run them at 2.4A, but you will definitely want to cool the Duet, as the stepper drivers will get hot. See the Cooling section here: https://docs.duet3d.com/Duet3D_hardware/Duet_2_family/Duet_2_WiFi_Ethernet_Hardware_Overview#cooling

Using a Duet 3 6HC would probably be a better option (higher current drivers, up to 6.3A peak current). To run external drivers from the Duet 2 WiFi you generally need either a Duex or EBoB board. It may be possible to run external drivers from the Duet 2 directly, depending on the external driver; it needs to be able to be driven by 3.3V step/direction signals. A lot of external drivers require 5V signalling, which the Duex/EBoB supply.

A 6HC also provides a 5V PWM signal, as does the Duex and EBoB. Note this is a PWM signal; it pulses between 0V and 5V, at different rates. Some laser controllers expect a variable voltage signal of between 0V and 5V, and you'll need a PWM to variable voltage converter (see https://docs.duet3d.com/en/User_manual/Machine_configuration/Configuration_CNC#connecting-a-spindle). So check what signal your laser controller expects.

Got around to implement the changes. Unfortunately, they did not work, but I seem to have found the problem which is in the config.g uncommented M669 command which is what looks to be corrected A values due to how RRF references 0°. If possible, a simple image on the Duet documentation page for this would help me and others out greatly, even if the amount of people using a scara is minimal.

With that said, the G92 works as it should now, but now it is back to the issue I have with this and Marlin: no move commands work for XY. When using the DWC chart of XYZ move buttons, none work but no error. If I type in a G1 H1 command exactly like in the homeall file, it does not move or make any attempt to, but changes the coords to some arbitrary value. Motors are all enabled after homeall, but no motion when commanded now.

Per the config.g this is the 'working' M669 which puts it at 0 where bed (0,0) is.:

The second image is using M669 with the minimal angles used for the print volume from before, and the homeall sets it to the correct point in space it would be per my prior post, but the G92 does nothing to the coords.

Finally, trying a homeall to the absolute min angles as above and then a move command to move it to (0,0) does move, but only the distal arm some distance. The proximal arm remains static during this move with standing above the machine. The angles in the command are just from math and the directions match CW motion. Also, the G92 does nothing after this move command, and no coords change.

If anything, it is one step closer to working with RRF.

The config tool did not populate my homing files with min and max moves and I'm a bit confused again. There's big changes made since I last used the config tool to generate the config.g file and the homing files. I think I've got most of it figured out, but this line here has me asking some questions. #1) I remove the square brackets after entering my data, correct? #2) if my bed's X measures 320mm of travel, I enter 320 in the 1st set of brackets and leave the second set of brackets at zero which it already is and remove the brackets from arounmd the 2 entries? Hope this makes sense. I've search for a guide on how to do this but can't find anything. Thanks

Probing seeming to work quite well - and just try to start on first dual head 3 colour parallel print.

Keep getting a problem with the SZP though whenever I emergency restart - I got this sometimes when I connected up the SZP last week.

Powering off and on sorts out the issue.

I did have one thought about stepper drivers - do you think you could run multiple steppers individually from the same single driver via permanently connecting two of the motor connections, and then having the other two connections go through 2 relays.

You need to use M587 S"ethernet" followed by the network settings (I think you may need to include the netmask, etc as well). Alternately it may be easier to modify your router dhcp settings to hand out a fixed IP address based on the mac address.

Yep I've been working with the board that NineMile was good enough to send me for a while now. So far it is all looking pretty good. I've not yet been able to test any of the closed loop functionality as this requires:
Support SPI control of the TMC2040 driver Support for an additional SPI bus (needed for the encoder) and then needs support for closed loop/phase stepping to be added to the RP2350/RP2240 port. Getting the closed loop code to compile and run in the RP2350/RP2040 version.
As mentioned above the TMC2240 SPI code is now working. I've recently got the additional SPI bus code working (but I may well revise that for various reasons). Unfortunately I'm pretty busy with other "life stuff" at the moment so progress is slower than I'd like. But I am still working on it!

@Mr-What for 3.7 use the main branch of WiFiSocketServerRTOS and the 3.7 branch of all other projects.

When you build a main project (RepRapFirmware or Duet3Expansion), Eclipse builds the correct build configurations of the other projects automatically. It sometimes builds additional configurations of the other projects as well, but you can ignore that.

I have corrected the CoreN2G build configuration names in the build instructions.

Note that the instructions at https://github.com/Duet3D/RepRapFirmware/wiki/Adding-New-Kinematics are different for 3.7 compared to earlier RRF versions.

@tofek321 Right, that's the idea:
I envisioned the TEC in a tug_o'_war scenario, where it has to pull on both ends of the rope when it's around ambient temp. The (small) heater will move the toggle point above your temp range and thereby eliminate the huge hysteresis you seem to see now.

I received the PCBs from jlcpcb and it works! I made a mistake labelling one of the output pins as iO.out; that should be dout (RXI to Dout on PanelDue... not needed otherwise).

A couple of time now you appear to have referenced your customers. Could you describe the nature of those users ? Its important to understand your context. For example "why / what are they doing that needs to know about M codes or G codes. " More specifically - what type of questions do they need an answer to and in what context?
You also seem to be of the opinion that an AI can be fed documents and train itself. But what would you get if you only fed it Duet3D documentation? You'd just have a glorified search engine. To answer the sort of questions you allude to, you would need to feed it a curated set of all the forum posts and anything else (related) that you can get your hands on.
Then you have the problem that there is as much bad information (problematic use) as there is good information (solutions) and the journey that got a user to the answers. Not to mention all ideas that may or not have contributed along way. So at this stage - you might be doing better but not a lot.
To be truly useful - you need a curated set of documents sufficiently large in the first place and with success and failure identified against some cognitive schema.
I'm not saying it cannot be done, but as I have said in a different thread - its a cost / benefit tradeoff. I fear the cost would be extremely high and the benefit depends on the level of user (and the number of such users) and indeed, how long a user stays at the level for which the model and agents remain useful.
