A milestone?
OK, I admit I'm one of those people who enjoys meaningless numerical milestones. It comes from studying numbers, I guess. So, I'm sure none of you will be surprised to learn that when Julia and I were first going out, I made her stay up to watch the clock roll around to 5:43 am (and 21 seconds) on July 6, 1998 (98/7/6/5:43:21).
The milestone for today is that I have just entered my 700th reference into the bibliography for my thesis (well, only 400-500 of these will actually end up in the thesis, but they're all in my database). This momentous article also happens to come from the journal with the longest title in my entire database:
Sitzungsberichte der koniglich preussischen Akademie der Wissenschaften zu Berlin.
And, for those of you who know a bit of German and a bit of German history, you will also know that this is a very old article indeed!
